Bees Swarm My Bee Box & I Feel The Love
I was out of town when a swarm of bees decided to swarm into one of my bee box. This isn't the first time this has happened either.
What can I say, we have lots of bees down here in southeast, Louisiana.
In this video I open the hive & do a quick inspection to see what has shown up exactly.
I share a few beekeeping tips with you while I go through this newly established hive.
I am a beekeeper & live Honey bee removal specialist located near New Orleans, Louisiana.
If you enjoy this video & others on my channel please consider subscribing, it is very much appreciated!
Thank you & I hope you are having a fantastic day because I am doing my best to have one as well!

I live in a rural area in the south of France . My neighbor has 25 bee hives a couple of fields away . And all summer the bees come to drink in my small fish pond . I’ve sat there with thousands of bees watching . Never been stung

I am soooooooo horrified of things that sting ... but I'm not afraid bbn of spiders or snakes ... one thing I can say is that through watching "JP the Beeman" is that in my head, I'd love to go to a hive, pick up those bees, just be all interactive ... but in reality, I'd lose my $#¡+, start flailing, and have the entire hive covering my crazy corpse ... yep, corpse ... my fear would kill me before the stings could ... I admire your presence, your videos, your love of the bees ... and I wish I wasnt both allergic and afraid! I get to enjoy these videos, though, and no matter how many I watch, I never get tired of seeing when they march! ☺️

Got my first sting from my late dad's hive last week. He's had bees for the last 18 years and I've done many a hive check with him totally suitless with no problem. Dad passed away in January and last week my partner and I were standing near the hive at night talking about dad and watching a few stragglers trying to make it home. One landed on my partner and AS I AM TELLING HIM not to swat or flick them off he flings one right into my forehead and it gets me on the thinnest skin of my left temple. My whole eye socket swole up! lol!

A good queen can potentially lay up to 2,000 eggs a day if enough cells are available. They usually do their best work in their second year. Four years is about what you can expect out of a good queen.

At 2.45 you lifted the lid (crown board) and put it down without looking on the underside to see if the queen had decided to climb up from the frames and was holding on to the crown board. I always teach new beekeepers to check for this. Don't want to chance her dropping off onto the ground.

Not sure if you will see this but I have questions: 1) Ever show up to a job and approach the hive and find out its not actually honeybees but something nasty like hornets or wasps and the customer was mistaken? 2) Have you encountered any Africanized Bees? I know they are a problem where I used to live in Florida and I understand that you can’t tell the difference by appearance alone? Thanks JP for the amazing videos. I am terrified of bees and wasps but watching your videos is helping me overcome my fears.

JPthebeeman thank you for answering and for doing such a huge part to save our bees and inspiring others to save them as well. Did you run like hell once you saw they were yellowjackets like I would have? I would have had a heart attack if a swarm of those things started chasing me ⚰️ We have a lot of bald faced hornets where I live, a neighbor had a huge hive on the corner of her house about 15 ft from where my other neighbors kids play. We threatened to sue her if we were stung if she didn’t remove it, her excuse was that its helping the environment like your bees do 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s a miracle nobody got attacked.
