I am 51 and I have only been fishing for about 7-months, but the only thing I have ever had luck using is a beetle spinner. I love them, I keep getting them hooked in the river and losing them, but they're cheap, so, it doesn't really matter much.

That’s awesome. Fishing these types of lures in the rivers will catch ‘em 🔥

Bass fishing is a lot of fun. The rods and lures costs are not bad. However, a boat and truck setup cost a ton. If I was in my 20s I would invest in a S and P 500 index instead of buying an expensive boat. Be a millionaire in 20 years. That is what I would tell myself at 20+. A cheap Jon boat will catch as many or more than a cool bass boat. Maybe you were not thinking about a boat. Just some wise words from a guy 30 years older than you ✅💵

Interesting you reccomend a jon boat, my dad and me been debating on getting one of those with a cheap boat engine @@NormGfishing

I just get those little wire spinner attachments packs, and make any jig into a beetle spin. The strike king Joker tails on a beetle spin rig has been my go too this summer.

I recently caught my pb large mouth on a 1/16th ounce beetle spin on a 4’8 ultralight uglystick rod . 7lbs 4 ounces would have to see it to believe it on 10lb braid as well

I bet that was a lot of fun to catch on an ultralight. Thanks for sharing 👊

can't beat a beetle spin for the price. they also work good with a little curly tail grub. those Bluegill were good eatin' size. catch 3 or 4 per person and you got a nice meal.

I'm central Florida boy and we used to bluegill fish and speck fish and go catfishing along with bass. We'd drag a live worm while we bass fished and a large minnow or small shiners. That's back when live bait was inexpensive. Now aways if u want to shiner fish u need a cast net. I guess I'm not willing to mess up my triton like I used to do to my old
@NormGfishing2 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey, I completely understand not messing up your nice boat with the cast net. I fished with live bait all the time when I was younger in Eastern North Carolina. It’s a great way to catch monsters. I now use a small hook with worm or bread to catch shiners. Slow but effective 👍👊
@jeffreyrodgers58352 жыл бұрын
Yeah a hair hook and a a bite off my sandwich and ur right. Why not keep ya a shiner rod rigged and ready and when the bite slows grab u some gold help. Love ur channel capt norm.

In this ole Texas boy's modest opinion the Johnson Beetle Spin and the H&H spinner bait will not only contend with but edge out their higher priced competition. Additionally when the inevitable happens and you loose one to the lake or tree limb at the most you'll only be saying goodbye to is about $4 and that's if it was purchased at a price gouging store.
