It's a genuine shame that Hollywood just didn't seem to want to try with Ocean's 8. I didn't mind that movie as much as some. And I think that they could have done more with the ladies other than "let's still jewelry while playing dress up", which is about as low effort as you can get. Inside, even though I've always known it to be a pipe dream, I thought it would have been cool for them to do a full trilogy with the ladies so that when stepping back and looking at the franchise as a whole, you'd have Ocean's 8 through 13 for the naming conventions. (Something I figured that that's what they were going for initially when they named it "8".) Then they could have done one final movie with whatever cast they had to bring together from both crews and just call it The Oceans. But because Hollywood seemed to be as half-hearted with Ocean's 8 as they were with Ocean's 12, the ladies didn't even have the opportunity to get their characters and their portion of the world fleshed out. And now we're just jumping right back into the sausage fest because apparently there's no one in Hollywood that seems to be able to write a compelling heist for women...for reasons. It would genuinely be nice if Hollywood wasn't so half-hearted when it came to building properties or spin-offs of franchises that focus on different genders and races apart from middle-aged white men. I've never had a problem with the original Ocean's crew. But since you went so far as to introduce a second crew, you could have at least tried a little harder to make them fit with the rest of the Ocean's universe. Despite the opinion of the internet, it is VERY possible to have two things exist at the same time and have them both be good. You just have to, you know, be willing to TRY.

I'd be so much more willing to watch movies outside my usual wheelhouse if they weren't pasty sausagefests. They're missing out on a huge chunk of audience (as well as artistic and storytelling opportunities) by being so petrified of taking even the smallest chance.

Honestly, the fact that the filmmakers lean so heavily into having Charles be a key emotional component of the film while also giving him the dumbest death possible for me does a good job at seperating the character from the actor. It's kind of both a jab at Jones himself while recognising the importance of the character. It helps me still enjoy that character and what he means for the films while seperating him from Jeffrey Jones.

Saw "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice" last night and it was only ok. Way too many storylines going on. It felt like 5 scripts mashed together from over the last 3 decades. Some good moments for sure and by far not the worst legacy sequel but it was just ok. Wish they had streamlined it a bit.

I am certain the reason why Monica bellucci's part was so abbreviated is because she's going to be The focus of the plot in the third one. Her appearance in this was a tee up for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Because let's face it, a third one where they say it three times is kind of a given.

It does feel like they planted seeds for another one and given how big of hit it is it makes. I would like if she comes back as the main villain I would like it if she is a threat to both Beetle juice and Lydia and have them force to team up in some way. Maybe it is duo to the fact that I also watched the cartoon as a lid but I really want to see the two stuck with each other more than in one or two scenes.
