The beetroot hummus is amazing! The color OMG! Once I saw another hummus recepie with black tahini made by black sesamseeds. Amazing ending color too! Acutally I'am a HUMMUS ADDICTED. And addicted by your channel! Thanks Refika!
I have made hummus using black tahini many times. It tastes very similar to the standard hummus but has a more intense flavour. I make it exactly the same way - same amounts of everything, no change,. I wouldn't say it looks as pretty though. Mine looks like wet cement. 😄😄 But it does taste delicious 👍😋😋

4:40 food is preserved in cans one of two ways, with heat or chemicals. In Australia, the majority of tinned chickpeas are from overseas (particularly China) where the quality of the water cannot be guaranteed. So, to meet with Australian food standards set by the government, the majority of the canning process for chickpeas is done with chemicals (cheaper to use chemicals than to use clean water). It is for this reason I NEVER use the water that comes in the tin and I ALWAYS rinse the chickpeas thoroughly.

You truly are an asset to humanity; I have made several of your recipes and am slowly working my way through the older ones. A question if I may - I am in Thailand and canned chick peas are expensive but I can get cheap dried ones, which I've always used to make hummus. I usually do a couple of kilograms at a time and freeze them in individual servings so I have the convenience of canned. You mentioned that something else has to be done and it takes longer - is it just the soaking and cooking time or is there another step such as soaking them in brine after cooking them to get them tasting like canned ones or is there something special that I should be doing?

I have eaten black bean hummus. So good. All hummus is delicious. I've made my own ,1. from dried chickpeas. 2. Canned chickpeas. I didn't care for the skin. But I don't mind the canned chickpeas, the skin slipped off easily. I don't have a food processor, what I do have is a morter & pestle. It's a large one. I skip tahini. I put garlic, cumin, paprika & olive oil. So good, I wished that I had learned about many years ago.

I made hummus using your recipe 3 times already.... so good but I did not make it plain... I had roasted bell peppers and garlic that I had jarred in olive oil... I added that to it and blended it in... it was so amazing and of course, it turned a nice red color also. I am moving and for my last batch I had misplaced away my tahini.... so I substituted smooth peanut butter... and it actually worked out well... so that might be something everyone has here in America in their pantry. Keep the videos coming... I love your show and crew!
