Awesome thank you for sharing. Had no idea these were a thing!

Looks kinda like a linesman style plier head, which are also made that way. There is supposed to be a small gap between the jaws, because the cutting knives have to close completely. If the jaws touched before the cutting knives closed completely it would impair the cutting ability of the pliers. After cutting, they're primary function is to twist wire...cool tool though!

Interesting. Maybe that's how it was originally designed.

That's the first thing I thought, too. My dad was an electrician, and he had pliers like this. Like, there's no wire they need to grip that's thinner than the gap between the jaws. Damned hard to sharpen the wire cutters when they dull, though.

I have the L'Electric version, French made with Brevetes. G.D.G on the pivot point and Made in France in English on the blade, it is also stamped Seaboard Steel Co on the blade front also. The other tools differ from yours in that the reamer is a slim auger type tool and the file is a wire gauge marked 9 10 12 14 16 18 20, a screwdriver, cap lifter and a wire stripper. There is nothing written on the plier handle, though. The wire cutter hole is square on mine, not round like on yours though. I also have an original leather pouch marked with the name of Normec (m-cr) ltd from Rochdale in the UK near me. It is in very good condition also. The pliers jaw on mine mate up perfectly and firmly, I think because it has hardly been used, it sat in my Dads drawer for fifty years that I know of before I got them and now they just sit in my display case.

Nice. Does the plier head meet well or is there a gap on yours?

@@hvacbudget8600 Mates perfectly, I did edit the original comment as well to say it but you must have read it before I edited it. Love your uploads by the way.

@@johnprice5784 Thanks for the kind words! I may have to pick up another one of these tools and see if it works better like yours.

So cool! I feel like I've seen clones of that.

Probably so. A lot of copycats in the multi tool world.

My first guess is the handle (the skinnier one) is slightly bent. Otherwise I'd wonder if it has some sort of bushing that's worn out? If that's the case I expect you'd notice excessive extra play in the pivot(s).

Someone should remake this with the knife switched with the file and all locking tools. Pocket clip and if you want to make it perfect, add make put a small spot to put bits in to use as a bit driver. Perfect multi tool.

Great idea! There is another tool, Kutmaster, made by Utica knife company that is a little similar to what you mentioned. Let me know what you think of it.

That looks like a MI9 escape knife. Well very similar at least.

You're right it does look very similar! Looks like the M19 is rather rare.
