The Great Life of Benjamin Brynn Benjamin Brynn was born into an ordinary home, to an ordinary mother and father, on a small town by the sea. His mother was a composer, or, at least that's what she dreamed she'd be. So, when her own dreams didn't pan out, she began to dream for him. But then, when he was just 11 years old, he got sick and was forced to stay inside for an entire year. And in that year he began to worry that he hadn't lived enough, so he made up a story, of a great life he thought he wanted to live, which only made him forget the great life he already had. How he had filled a new home with light and joy and promise. He met a girl, his neighbor, who felt all alone in the world, and made her feel okay again. And how, even if he was sick, he still gave his parents hope. How he reminded them of exactly who they were, after they had almost forgotten. So when he knew he was going to go, he was okay, because he'd already lived a great life. A full life. And he was everything he needed to be. Just as he was. ~Close your eyes now, and keep them closed. She's gonna let you in. Go on, you know what to do. ~Why is he smiling like that? ~He must be somewhere he likes

One thing I've started to notice throughout the journey of the game. The ferryman is actually probably the most important character. Throughout the entire game he just acts like a dude who's doing his job. But as he progresses Throughout the story he helps Benny open up more about his life. He makes Benny accept that his life did have meaning. The one thing that provokes me so much to say this is how the game ends and how the ferryman talks. His voice has a completely different tone, he understands Benny and shows his support. He word for word says everything that Elle says and I believe this is to show how similar those characters are or at least in this point of the story. His final line "close your eyes now, and keep them closed. She's gonna let you in. Go on, you know what to do" even in the end he's trying to give him some positive reinforcement and when u close your eyes that's Benny finally accepting his life. I'm still thinking about this game like 2 years later and I probably won't stop thinking about it. and the soundtrack is definitely one of my fav.

He talks to Benny like he's a child, and he is. He isn't condescending, or horrible, he talks softly- like he's consoling him. It's very nice to see how the ferryman treats him
@guywholivesforart Жыл бұрын
The only time his tone is harsh is if Benny blinks while he's reliving harsh memories, but even that is just to push Ben to be truthful and remember the beauty of his real life.

I discovered this song through a game walk through on February 15th 2024, i was going to show it to my mom during a family get together celebrating my mom's return from a mental health ward on February 18th. I forgot to show it to her. She took her own life on February 19th. I played this song at her service, i really wish she could have herd it. I love you momma.

I don’t know why this song bring so many repressed emotions and feelings out. Its the only time I’ve been able to actually reflect of things so long ago that ive basically forgotten. Maybe thats the point of the song, as the ferryman describes the character’s life, maybe you are supposed to reflect on your life too. All those crushes you never confessed to, all those fights with your parents, all the family you’ve lost throughout the years, and all the friendships that have been forgotten. Maybe thats the true purpose of this song. Maybe its supposed to make you realize that, your life, your memories, what make you the person you are is important. All those screw ups, all those painful memories that lay repressed and hidden, waiting for that moment when you hear or watch something that conveys such emotion as a song like this, to reappear. Through it all, those memories cant change, those experiences cant be reshaped to become happy. They are what make you human, and they are what forms your life. Those lost dreams, those inexperienced moments that you wish you could do. Maybe this song represents those moments in our lives, where we are at our lowest ever and those moments come flooding back. Maybe its meant to make you look back on life and as you remember everything. Those emotions come back as anger, joy, or tears.

When I saw someone play this game for the first time I absolutely bawled my eyes out because my friend wasn’t ill but he was really struggling at life and everything seemed to be going wrong for him, and I guess he just couldn’t do it anymore and he ended up committing at such a young age (12) and I never have and never will get get over it I miss him still to this day and Before Your eyes really shows how important life is and that your life can really go Before Your eyes.
