I'm not a super fan of the color, but I applaud you for everything you shared with us, I appreciate how you don't try and hide mistakes you point them out and talk your audience through them. With that approach no one has the right to criticize the content your putting out, I for one very much appreciate it.

Good job man! I like watching the "pros" do "pro" work, but there is something about watching a regular guy doing good work in their garage, and showing the rest of us that it can be done. Thanks for the great content! I think you should do what you like, whether it's been done, or "played out," as long as you love it, that's all that matters.

@@johnn919 I think sometimes its ok when things are over your head - thats what the pros are for. But for me… the build IS the reward; a finished project is just a bonus and a signal to start something new. I love building cars, man! Success, failure, learning, its all part of the journey! Thanks for watching and for the comment!

That looks amazing. I like that sheen SO much more than the flat/matte look that everyone does. Yours looks unique instead of being “played out”

Thanks bro. Yeah, I always see a lot of matte and of course gloss… but not much satin. Really love it.

Beautiful! Not easy to spray matt, and semi-gloss finish, nicely done!
@intheshoptv4 ай бұрын
@@VinceT2940 Thanks bro. Yeah, thats what Im told. I get why… they say that the outer edges of the spray fan dry quicker, which creates the “striping” effect. So I narrowed the fan a little and added some slow reducer and it came out perfect with no striping 🤷🏻♂️. There are SOME mistakes though, that were caused by inconsistent travel speed. Luckily mostly in inconspicuous areas. Takes practice - I’ll get better, but very pleased for a beginner’s paint job. Have another spraying/practice opportunity coming up in a video soon.

Well done Mike glad to see you putting on some color .I wanted a Orange candy on mine untill I started pricing the job . Even with professional help doing (all )the body work it was going to cost a ton. I did not want to take out a loan for the paint so you have to do what you have to do.These trucks are definitely not a poor man’s hobby . Working with all the body work yourself makes you appreciate the truck that much more in my opinion . I had no idea what amount of labor goes into a nice paint job .

Well done sir!! Love how it turned out. I believe the reason the black on black is played out is because it’s easy. It’s hard to make sure your junk is flat. I’m guilty of wanting to do the exact same thing as you. I love that hot rod look. It’s timeless. Keep up the good work.

Mike, your truck is progressing over mine! When I paint a single stage, my first coat is very light. You’ll see some primer thru it. After it flashes off proceed with next coat. No runs. I’ve never used satin on a final coat, but a gloss one, I’ve taken runs out with razor blade and polishing compound
@intheshoptv4 ай бұрын
That was my initial thought but with satin, its so easy to get striping so I followed the TDS sheets suggestion of two medium wet coats. I feared the worst and was pleasantly surprised in how great it turned out’

Good job looks great! So you don’t clear coat satin black?? I’m wanting to paint my truck the same
@intheshoptv4 ай бұрын
@@jasonhagan3170 No sir, with all single stage paint, the gloss level (matte, satin, gloss) is essentially “built in” for lack of a better term. It’s quicker and less expensive and yields a certain really cool look, but its much less forgiving if you mess up.
