@jppagetoo Vintage synths are nice but they usually need more maintenance than new units. I bought my ARP 2600 for relatively little money in the 1980s when Poly Synths were the flavor of day and in high demand. I doubt I would be willing to pay around 12000 USD for a vintage ARP2600 nowadays if I hadn't one already. But don't get me wrong, the original ARP 2600 has a unique vibe and feel. It's a great Synth. Cheers, Ralph

Hopefully my Behringer 2600 arrives this week...according to my retailer anyway:). I'm seriously considering the Korg Mini 2600 though now also. I believe they should be in stores for summer time. Hope you are keeping well my friend Ralph.

I wonder if one could "transfer" Odyssey patches to the 2600...how hard would it be? (I'm torn between these two, have no more place for non-vertical instruments, lol.)
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl 3 жыл бұрын
Anything you can do on the Odyssey, you can do on the 2600 as well. The patch might be a bit more complicated and requires some cabling, but the 2600 is semi modular and thus offers more possibilities and options than the Odyssey. Greetings, Ralph

@@RalphBaumgartl I see, thanks for your answer! My question comes from the fact that I've heard great patches from the Oddy but nobody did a remake of them on the 2600. I can imagine that it's should be possible...but there are for example some switches on the Oddy, it would be a bit hard to interpret all the setting. I just lament that Behringer didn't make at least an Oddy desktop. Thanks again!

Hello Ralph. Fourth dimension, presence, roundness and amplitude in the bass, medium. The sound seems less generous than the arp. How would you describe what behringer 2600 means? Less presence? But the merit is that it works when the original is hs!Good video.
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the merit is that B2600 is more reliable than a 43 year old vintage synth. 😉 But nevertheless I will make a comparison video regarding the sound, so that people can judge for themselves. Thanks for leaving your opinion. Greetings, Ralph

My personal opinion, not owning one and not hearing one in person yet is this: I think that *for the price* it's a pretty nice synthesizer. However, to my ears it does not sound like a 2600. The dry sound of it isn't that impressive to me at all if I am being honest... and I am not one of those Behringer haters! I want to love it but I just can't. The overall sound feels kinda muffled to me, like it has a lowpass filter on it somewhere... and that's not just this video, it's every video I've seen. It also seems to be missing a sort of fizzy, organic, metallic quality to it that the original had. I think that even the Arturia 2600 VST did a better job of nailing the sound.
@phazerbrains
@phazerbrains 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you - it doesn't sound like a 2600. Go listen to the demos of he Korg 2600 and you can immediately hear the difference. Nonetheless I have one on order and am interested in trying it out.

@@phazerbrains it's a shame that the korg version is so crazy expensive. It sounds remarkably better than this Behringer version. I actually prefer the Behringer Odyssey to the Korg one due to the effects and sequencer since they sound about the same. With the 2600 though there's a huge difference in sound. I dont knowing korg is overpricing or if Behringer is using cheap crappy components.. all I know is the behringer 2600 doesn't sound nearly as good as the Korg.

But maybe you own the Tonus version with the 4012 filter which is for the most ARP lovers the best sounding version of the 2600 ?
