Finally, finally someone who really explains the assign sequencer stuff. Was much easier than i thought! The standard sequencer operation however, in spite of you demonstrating it really well, is pure horror. How can anyone in the 21st centure accept such a user interface from a synthesizer company? All in all, many thanks for this and your other videos, that really helped me out getting much more out of the Crave!

Another video that has pushed me closer to wanting one. All the complaints I've seen leveled at it are unforgiving of the Crave's price point. People either want to dismiss it due to the Behringer name or because it has a few flaws. But really... this is a perfect little box! Either, to add to an established collection of synth gear or as a way for a bedroom musicians to get a nice real synth sound into their music for not a lot of money.

Totally agreed. Given that it isn't the most mindblowing sequencer to start with, making it this complex to use is utter madness. Could have been so much clearer. Unless you don't own another sequencer (or you['ve already had to learn this one due to owning another Broduct I can't see reason one to use this one.. I think the number of times an experienced synther like Starsky realised he'd made a (very understandable) error is testament to that.

The good news is that this is also the same sequencer that is on the MS-1, so once you learn it, it works for 3 synths so far -- and the Moog M32, more or less. I think you need to have sustain enabled in order to get gates to tie properly.
@StarskyCarr5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, when you have sustain fully open there are still clicks and it triggers the envelopes. So yes you can sort of do ties, but not like on most sequencers.
@StarskyCarr5 жыл бұрын
Having said that.. just checked the M32 and it acts exactly the same way with the Moog manual even describing it as a tie as well.
@johnmiddleton42915 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I will have to check Muffwiggler and Gearslutz and see if anyone really mentioned that. I haven't messed with more than basic programming on these synths as I have other hardware that is much more capable in that respect.
@StarskyCarr5 жыл бұрын
John Middleton although the ties are similar the Moog doesn’t appear to have the ghost triggers when the step is muted.
@johnmiddleton42915 жыл бұрын
One of those reverse engineering bugs I suppose. Hopefully it's something that can be corrected in firmware. Are you able to replicate those ghosts on the Ody sequencer? I get them on the MS-1, but you really need to be looking for them.

I dont know if this has been widely discussed, but if you have the 1.0.6 firmware I strongly urge you to be careful about upgrading. The upgrade to 1.0.9 removed the clock-division functionality of the tempo knob and that is a Super important function for a sequencer, or it will be almost useless if you cannot change the quantize of your sequence. I was pretty close to returning my Crave when this function disappeared, and I was glad I had spent the extra to get it from Sweetwater because I was not sure if a direct return to Germany would be possible. I finally managed to use Midi-ox to transfer the sysex file of the downgrade. I had some conversations with "music tribe" tech support and they say they are going to have another try at fixing it in a later upgrade. Sorry...no firmware upgrades for me.
@bonzai14674 жыл бұрын
I'm not technical enough to understand everything you said, but if I understand it right the 1.0.9 firmware UNables the option to sync the tempo of my Crave to my Master Sequencer? To put it simple, do you know how I can set the tempo of the crave sequencer to the same tempo as my other sequencers (say 120 bpm)? I tried everything, 5 pin MIDI, USB MIDI, Tempo Sync but nothing works. It doesn''t even trigger start on the crave. All my other midi devices work just fine :(

Finally, a sequencer more cryptic than the 303 and KPR-77 units. ~ got the K2 yesterday after watching your comparison video and *Limbic Bits* sound demo, - it's a great synth in it's own right.... but gotta say, the *crave* just feels like a *volca* version of the *mother-32* - though it's probably built better than both. ~

Too many people turn their noses up at Behringer stuff but I think they're great at making affordable music gear. I'm mainly a guitarist and I have a couple of their guitar pedals, their larger form factor pedals, the Vintage Tube Monster and Vintage Tube Overdrive and they're great value. They also made a very good copy of ElectroHarmonix's Deluxe Memory Man. They also make decent guitar amps. I wouldn't mind getting something like this sequencer, and a drum machine but their 808 copy is a little limited for what I want, but if they made something like a copy of the Roland TR-8S with multiple kits on it then I'd probably buy one of them. As far as I'm concerned you can't beat Behringer for value for money, I know their stuff is made in China but most things are, and at the end of the day all their gear is designed in Germany, and that can't be a bad thing. 👍
