BEING A BLACK WOMAN IN TECH IS EXHAUSTING! How I Stay Motivated

Sometimes it really feels like I we do double the work to get half the money, recognition, promotions, etc. I remember one time earlier in my career my manager gave me an extra project. I asked for a bonus, considering I was taking on more work but of course, they said no! To make matters worse, they said that I hadn't yet proven that I could handle the work yet so I wasn't deserving of anything extra... so, why are you giving me the extra work then? If you think I can't handle it. THEN, when it came time for me to get a promotion, they said I wasn't "ready". And you already know my colleagues who were, well, different... didn't have those issues.
It can be daunting.. exhausting... overwhelming! I am hoping to be part of the change. I hope to continue to show up and be a good representation of excellence but whew... can you relate?

I worked in tech since 1999. It has always been a d-measuring contest with lame conservative right wing code bros and the flying monkeys who love them. I quit and started teaching computers in late 2010s. I am sure it is better now, but not much better. The last coding job I applied for was 2018 and it was a total prima donna ballet, theatrical suck up to the boss, social media performance show. I honestly could not believe it. I can not imagine the level of daily torture it would be to work under those conditions.
