He wasn't a bad lawyer! He told his employer they had to pay and they offered $500 and the guy refused and took them to court. The lawyer was required to create a defense when there wasn't a defense! If the lawyer refused he'd be disbarred. The lawyer can't make the guy take the $500 nor can he stop him from going to court. Defense attorneys constantly have ZERO DEFENSE for their clients and they have to create something, even if it makes no sense to try to defend them.

He didn't take the $500 so the lawyer is required to create some kind of defense even if it makes zero sense just like defense attorney's try to create a defense when it makes zero sense. Honestly I can understand why a lot of people get confused with lawsuits like this...the thought process is usually "I paid $1000 for this TV and now it's like I didn't buy it at all! I need my money back!" It's not necessarily intuitive to think otherwise, since no one wants "someone else's used TV". Unfortunately for this guy, the last decade has had such huge leaps in technology, that the value on a TV drops almost as fast as a new car driving off the dealer's lot! No, it’s the owner of the property to require a tenant to have renter’s insurance, if the property does not require it and there’s damages they’re aware of, then they’re liable. The only defense was, “he could have done this he could have done that” could have would have should have. We have to look at what happened. No insurance and damages caused due to the apartment he lived in, the property owner has to pay.
