I honestly doubt so, since Valve does make bare minimum to restrict illicit activity (keeps anti-cheat on, bans reported accounts), and the rest can be handwaved on limitation of liability stated in EULA.

It also doesn’t help that the bot hosters (the guys who own the bots) have doxxed and DDOSed people if those people try and fight the bot problem. Bot hosters are willing to commit actual crimes like doxxing and ddosing. And all of this is allowed by Valve’s negligence

Tbh I don't see how Valve should deal with people doing actual crimes outside their game (even if said crimes are related to TF2 in motive). They are a videogame company, not a law enforcement unit.

Hearing you share the little things you've enjoyed about the game made my day--and was a great, much-needed, positive way to end your video. 6:50 reminded me of a recent story about a subclass one of my best friends and I invented together. We were playing Casual shortly after the 64 bit update which paused the bots for a little while. We ended up on Dustbowl which is my friend's least favorite map, so we decided to have fun with it. We played battle engineers with his notoriously horrible primary: the pomson 6000 and tried to get kills with it. Whenever we got a kill or died, we would just say "pomson" in text chat. We unintentionally created an entire team full of pomson engies and even people on the other team would reply "pomson" after we killed them. It was legendary. Your point about how there is still fun to be had with this game couldn't be more true. I relate to feeling like you missed out, I started playing in 2013 after some of the biggest updates Tf2 ever had like the medic or WAR updates. It warms my heart that you're having so much fun with the game. Despite some colorful people trying to sabotage the game, Tf2 is a wonderful game at its core, and there really aren't any others quite like it. I'm glad you're having fun, and I hope that you continue to have a great experience. Great video!

Honestly, as a new player myself, I love tf2 and I think it's super fun! But, I've found the community surrounding the game pretty toxic. I've been accused of renting skins (I bought skins since I like the game and I come from counter strike), hiring a medic bot to pocket heal me (my girlfriend playing the game with me, she is also new), and being accused of not being a new player and a troll because of my skins. I normally say nothing in game but I find myself getting targeted. It's not an every game type of situation but it's not uncommon to hear for me. I've found it hard to want to play at times due to it. Other than that issue, I love the game and hope Valve can fix the bot issues.

If you want to get a TF2 experience without the bots and the bs, maybe try TF2 Classic. It's a mod that you can download very easily on its website and its based on the release/beta versions of tf2, but it has an active playerbase, many interesting weapons made for the game (including unused ones from tf2) and even gamemodes where there's four teams

fun fact:valve workers has stated that they have planed to do some thing after literally every other project. and they are realy lazy at doing thing thats why its taking forever to get to tf2. its low on the list pretty much.

I play Uncletopia and I haven't had that experience on the NA servers. Everybody's really chill and friendly when I'm on, sometimes even goofing off and joking around.

Just don't use vc and ignore chat. Most people will prob assume it's just a random media character or just "fake woman lul" and then move on. If that helps, people don't have enough memory for a random person, so fear of getting judged shouldn't be considered.

I think there are must-go community servers for new players in the game. It's just a matter of having them being recommended or telling them how to join them.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I've had the game in my library for years but didn't play much due to it not agreeing with my laptop at the time, got into it a few weeks ago and haven't stopped playing since. The bots are incredibly annoying when they sneak onto servers I'm on, but I've learned how to be quick on the draw with calling votekicks on the well-known ones and don't intend to let them ruin the experience for me.

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I grew up with this game on my dac's old work PC. I still remember playing for HOURS in the living room on Freak Fortress 2. I remember my first game as spy was on CTF_Sawmill back when quickplay was still a thing. I got the DIamondback and kept asking "hey is thi e diamondback any good? should I equip it?" I have memories of one specific minecraft map on a trade server, but I haven't been able to find it in a sea of other Minecraft maps. I remember some kid gifting me a strange Revolver out of nowhere when I said I'd never had a Strange before. Wish I'd kept it. Lots of emotions tied up in this game, and it feels like I'm watching a sibling or a parent die.

I don't think tf2 makes that much money for valve compared to their other products like CS and especially Steam at the same time, I don't think they can just shut it down, since it would probably get them into legal troubles with so many anti-trust lawsuits against them these days 😭 They can't just kill the community market. However I believe TF2 should be considered to be a "liveservice" game, since they keep adding skins and making money. That money should be henceforth put towards maintaining the game!

I LOVED TF2, it is the only competitive multiplayer game I have ever enjoyed. But the botting/cheating/griefing problem has kept me away from the game for about 5 years. I only even came to this video because I had a dream last night about playing the game and it made me nostalgic from all the fun I had playing for over 10 years. I'm just no longer willing to have my good time ruined by those things. I would rather lose a million games because my team couldn't quite get the job done than lose because people were cheating or my team was intentionally throwing just to upset their teammates. Even private servers aren't immune. I don't know if the game can be healed and bring back players who walked away like I did

I'm a tf2 player who actually joined in late 2023 (I downloaded the game alot earlier but I really started playing it in like between October-December). To this day I've never played Casual mode, I only played it in a few instances, and I just found Community servers to be better in every aspect compared to Casual. My first few months of the game were spent on the game's Training mode because I was too scared to play matches with actual players since I didn't wanna get curbed hard as a newbie f2p. Then when I actually decided to get on Casual it just got problematic for me there because matches took ungodly amounts of time to load and I was pissed to find out that f2ps couldn't chat or use voicelines in Casual. The last Casual match I ever played was in this one Control Point map, and that game got bombarded by Sniper bots, which then kicked me later on...

The biggest issue is: its not just TF2, CS2 is also getting blasted by bots. L4D2, L4D... Valve doesn't need to care about those products, Steam is making them billions and now GabeN is slowly retiring so Valve is under new management -- so I bet that has something to do with it...

I will say that everything that happens in chat has been on and off for the last few years the aimbotting is the more impactful issue while you can mute chat if you'd like the aimbotting can make the game literally unplayable if you get like 3 or more in the game without insta kicking them its over for that server

1. If valve shut down tf2 there would be a boycott on valve products. 2. The save tf2 hashtags did nothing. Valve was building a case against the bot creators, ive seen this a lot in the business world, For example, many supermarkets build cases on return shop lifters, when i was 13 i got caught stealing, they brought me to a room, and actually had a disc with recordings of me stealing 8 other times...lol. thats was loooooooooooong ago, In the digital world, you cant just sue everyone, it would be too costly, This is why in court rooms they go for the "top dog" of a group, it takes less lawyers and money to sue for all the damage in one go, Its likely valve launched an investigation, likely paying proffessionals (we couldnt dox them, but we work for free, these businesses are far more capable at investigation than us) I believe valve is quietly building a court case, the hackers were charging money for the service so they likely want to cash in on this. There is nothing to save on tf2. The game is balanced. People are habing fun and not forcing the server to stay open. . Any more begging from valve and youll get ea ubisoft tf2

Yes you are all weird. And dont wirry, most of the complain players are new to tf2. The og players understand the importance of crits, understand the extension of what each class can do, And understands pyro was overbuffed in the pyroland update, (i was a pyromain before that update, and i taught people the true meaning of what pyro can do hahaha) but so many people complained.... If youre wondering why pyro burn lasts so long now, and can sometimes sap alllll your health, Thank the players begging valve to answer what changes they wanted. Mostly people who xD cant airblast

This is why valves inaction bothers me so much. People still play tf2, you shouldn't feel like you missed out on anything. The game has a healthy player base you should be able to play it.

It was a fun game back in the day. Last played it in 2021 and it was the same game with the bots then. You had to get in a full game in casuals where nobody left to get an actual game but it was rare. When they added the Meet your match update in 2016 thats when you started to see these bots. That update ruined the game
