Red sebastian his song is representing the belgium rave culture. It's something i grew up with and i still listen to it 15-20 years later. It has a tomorrowland vibe on it, which take place every year in Belgium. We are known for this kind of songs so why not represent what we are known for all over the world. And that, combined with his incredible voice, is WINNER ALLERT for me 🎉 I absolutely agree with everything you say. Very good review! The only thing i think is that red sebastian is the clever song to choose. The public will be blown away. Maybe the jury won't like it as much, but hey, let's make a statement and represent our culture. That's what it's all about, right?

@galaxia4709 are you from Belgium? Ever heard of discotheques like Zillion, cherrymoon, the captain, lagoa, the oh... there are even new techno festivals and they get bigger every year. Even in Ypres (flanders) you have highlight festival. All known for techno/rave music. Even search babafest. It's our local monthly big party with all techno dj's. So how does this not represent a big part of belgium?

If all Ravers and techno lovers will take the time to vote RED SEBASTIAN is going to win 100%... BUT the audience that watches VRT1 and also votes can mess things up like they did in the past. I will tell you one thing, i was at the recording and RED SEBASTIAN knocked everyone out of the room with his voice and stage presence and he even had to start over 2 times becouse of technical problems during the show and he had 0% nerves! If RED SEBASTIAN is the one they pick Belgium can start looking for a venue to hold EUROVISION '26 1000%. winner!

Oooh first comment. I attended one of the two pre-recorded shows. But I'll only talk about the snippets and what we've seen live so far on Belgian TV. Personally, I love the Leez's vocals and charisma and her song. Stephanie is one of my favourite Belgian singers in general. SX - Gold (where she is the singer) is just a song that lodges in my brain and her vocal tones are amazing. I agree that Red Sebastian has to be the favourite based on the snippets. Personally not a fan of Le Manou's song and have grave concerns about her vocals. Lenn - lovely, but poor enunciation and the song is not a winner, but great for an easy listen playlist. Jelle - have the least to say as I'd like to comment on the whole song. Love the snippet of Mentissa, but I don't think it's fitting in the winner category yet. Finally, Grace was my second fav of the first heat (Leez first) - enjoyed the vocals, the song itself, the congolese influences in the dance, but fear it's a bit of a slo-mo lite song. So, let's see this weekend with the full versions of the second heat, but high hopes for Red Sebastian, with Leez currently in the lead. And I'll be voting ;)

Tonight we'll finally hear the last 4 songs in full, so we can better compare all 8 songs. From what I've seen and heard up to now I hope Red Sebastian will win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mentissa wins because she's more well-known abroad than the others. It's a pity that there are no songs in Dutch as well since it's VRT's turn this year. There are so many good Flemish artists these last years that sing in Dutch, like Pommeline Thijs, Camille, Bazart, Metejoor, Maksim, Aaron Blommaert and so many others. Don't really mind the language of the song as long as it's a well staged song with a strong performer live. I liked Mustii's song from last year but unfortunately the live performance on the big stage was so disappointing. The big podium needs someone who can stand the pressure and can perform really good live.

@Blgfx-70 i love what you said! I personally don’t think Mentissa being a big artist will play any role in this case. The VRT public is very different and unpredictable. Also, her singing in French will not help her at all.

But all of them will have to improve their vocals to win Eurovision, maybe it's the stress of first time jitters, but VRT is not known to prepare their candidate once they have won the national final. Gustaph has his own team that personally invested tile and money in it, but Gustaph isn't in his teens/twenties. The same happened last year with Musti but for different reasons. Also Belgium cannot win because we cannot afford to host the Eurovision. Our politicians have no feeling with it and can't see the benefit of investing that much money in a niche production. If a city wants to host they will be on their own. Antwerp will probably not do it as it is ruled by people who loath Eurovision. Ghent and Hasselt are the only other possibilities as VRT will avoid Brussels and any city in Wallonia due to communitary reasons. Peter Van De Veire is the only real winner of this Flemish national final showcasing. But he ridicules Eurovision more than love it. He just knows that he will have over 1 million viewers. Two years ago he organised the finals so 'the Starlings' would win. The professional jury however didn't like the song and in a twist of events Gustaph won. The weeks before he mocked Gustaph, the weeks after he went complete radio silent about the victory of Gustaph. Fearing his post even, untill Gustaph went up in the polls, then suddenly it was all all right. And when he landed well in the top 10 with a few 12 pointers, well he sold it as his success and not Gustaph's, eve though Gustaph and his team were on their own, safe for 10k cash.

What a load of crap you are talking. First it's not Belgium who pays the bill it's the broadcasters VRT and RTBF who will pay (share) the bill and they DO have the money. Take a show like the Mia's that is held in Brussels Paleis 12 (ING arena) each year and one of the best music arena's in Europe atm and has lots of venues next to it for press etc,... A show like the Mia's is already better than a lot of Eurovision shows. The Belgians know how to sell a show since they basically own the Led screen world and know how to do large festivals (Tomorrowland).

@stevenlaureys5871 als het op Eurosong aankomt heb ik een 99% winnaars keuze sinds 1982! Sinds 2016 heb ik alle jury en ally public votings juist gehad. Het is zoals het gedoe rond Red Sebastian, goede basis, maar hij zal serieus beter moeten zingen om door te raken. Het probleem is dat de twee liedjes die kans maken om hoog te scoren in het frans zijn, en dat is not done in Vlaanderen. So Red Sebastian it will be en we gaan afgaan zoals Musti vorig jaar met de critics die zeiden "beste eurosong nummer ever" tot hij live optrad. Nu alle nummers zijn catchy, maar de zang is bijna in geen enkel nummer goed en de kans dat, indie de georefereerde keuze van Peter weer niet wint de artiest weer aan zijn lot zal worden overgelaten. Maar dit kaar zijn het erg jonge zangers met weinig ervaring en Eurosong is nu een echt Olypisch speelveld, van Februari to Mei is het not stop reizen en live zingen en een show ineenzetten om correct over te komen. En copy pastes van nationale finales werken niet

@growbloomthrive you have no idea what the conditions are to host, right? The height of paleis 12 isn't high enough, every broadcaster need a loan from either government or cuts in their programming to host, the city that wants to host need to pay on average 19 million euros!!! Not to the EBU to organise the main and side events, security of those, etc... the EBU only pays for the stage production. But on average, it gives a return of 65 million to the hosting city the first year. Also, all the main arenas that would fit the EBU brief in Belgium are usually booked for nearly all weekends from mid-April to the end of June. So it will be Paleis 5, a depot in the harbor of Antwerp might be converted, or we beg Ghelamco Arena to quickly enclose their roof, but with legislation in Belgium there is a fat chance of that happening. And I don't see het Sportpaleis kick out stars like Zuchero, Joe Bonnamasse, Tate McRea. Bart Peeters would kindly move his dates for sure, but only if he can present the Eurovision (which would be REALLY great but not sure if he can get to Petra Mede level of funny) the one fun thing is that Sertab is in Antwerp in May 23rd 2026 so she could really be part of one of the shows, together with Hadise so entice Turkey to return in 2027. If Belgium should win in 2026. Unfortunately we are a very popular destination for concerts and events as we have the best concert halls in Europe, just not to the demands the EBU requests. 32 to 38 meters minimum height for starters... and RTBF will not join, it will become the same as 1987 if they do and no one wants that!!!
