Just bought one. Off center and the lock sticks like crazy. Benchmade is living off an old name.

This particular model is spectacular for me. Ultra smooth and zero blade play whatsoever. Benchmade as a whole though is absolutely living off of a name instead of quality craftsmanship.

Yesterday I reached under the sink to cut a rubber hose off a plastic barb. Got home that night and tried to strop it and the first stroke cut a groove in my strop. After looking at it close there was a micro chip middle of the blade. I know factory edges are notorious for that BUT.... This is a $175 knife all day.
@lowpro_cj75077 ай бұрын
The lock stick is from the copper cladding at the tang. It will go away with use, just let it break in. Centering can usually be fixed, but is a shame for the money
@jacobpetersen56626 ай бұрын
You know nothing man. It’s a mass fabricated knife. Let it break in. Give it some time. Such a rookie comment.

No they aren't.Thats not usual.Send it in and they will replace it or fix it.When you order a knife have them check it before they send it.Bladehq and knife center are the best

lol shoulda got a Coldsteel with a triad lock if you wanna spinewhack your folder. Or buy a Fixed blade. I’m pretty sure benchmade didn’t design the axis lock to be a fixed blade alternative. There are stronger lock systems out there if u need it to perform like that…. That being said they probably should have put a stronger lock on that splitting wedge of a knife.

@opinionatedhobbyist prophet river. I looked at bladescanada and they didnt even have it yet , still said coming soon. But it would have been 440 plus tax. S&R didnt have it either at all. Ceco had it for 519.. plus tax. Cabelas was also 440 plus tax. House of knives was 431 plus tax but they were out of stock.

@@mikeboyce21it’s not worth the money. their magnacut is heat treated to 60/61 hrc. magnacut needs to be at 63-64 and while 3-4 hrc may not sound like a lot mangacut doesn’t have the great edge retention that makes it so popular under 63 HRC. it’s known for being tough with good edge retention and being stain proof but it has edge retention lower than s35vn or even the base steel it used with the cruwear. you basically overpaid for a fancy stamp on the blade, if you want magnacut spyderco is a way better bet and they also only charge $230 for the magnacut pm2, 150 for the magnacut native 5, and 165 for the magnacut manix 2. they’re also dropping a native chief in magnacut for under $200 (it’s a 4 inch blade) and a para 3 lw in magnacut for $170 or so soon. i hear american blade works also does good magnacut for about $200, he’ll you could’ve gotten a magnacut fixed blade from bradford for that money and had over $100 leftover.

It'll do no harm to the knife, believe me.Theyre extremely well made and if you ever do happen to break it you send it to Benchmade and they fix it or send you a new one no questions asked.I didn't have my proof of purchase or even the box or card.Youll never go wrong with benchmade.

Who is using their Benchmade in such a way that would cause it to fail like this? Who is using the spine of their benchmade as a hammer? Benchmade is a knife it’s for cutting. Other tools are more suitable for other tasks. Common sense..

Is the spine wack even a good test for a knife? It’s not something that would happen in natural use.
@opinionatedhobbyist8 ай бұрын
There are no real good tests so to speak other than using the knife as intended. While striking things with a spine is rare, what a lot of people don’t seem to realize is spine whacks don't simulate real life spine striking situations. Spine whacks simulate the directional forces at work when a knife is lodged deeply into a material and you have to wrench it out. It is a blunt and extreme test of lock strength for sure but to say it has no relevance to the safety and performance of the tool is near sighted.
@BartenderOfDeath5 ай бұрын
Doing what he is doing is what the knife is supposed to be able to handle.Hes doing it in wood and even has a pad.These knifes are bullet proof if you use them like your supposed to.But even if you pry,or abuse them and they break they have the best warranty and customer service that ive ever dealt with.Worth the price every time!!!

Sorry, but these "tests" have always been complete crap. I've been carrying my Mini Adamas every day for two years now. During this time, not once did a situation arise that would require me to hit something with the spine of the knife. Even if we imagine such a situation theoretically, a lock disengage will save the liners from irreversible deformation.
