I don't practice Taoist magic but I grew up in Asia (mostly Japan and Singapore) & learning about Taoist magic and witnessing its ubiquity in the cultures there was what prompted my interest in all things mystical in the first place. Imagine my shock when my family moved to the USA and all the people there thought of Taoism in terms of philosophy! Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for videos like this. They are very educational.

One of the best lectures I have heard you give Ms Wen. The last 5 minutes were pure gold. My Zen teacher used to say about idolizing anything: "If you meet the Buddha on the road, Kill him." That was some of the best advice I ever received. Another similar piece of advice was from a fellow jazz musician. "Don't copy the masters by trying to play what they play. Rather try to find within yourself what they found within themselves" Again, great video and thank you.

I am so glad I found your channel, being Chinese myself and a seeker of esoteric knowledge I have been unable to find any books regarding Chinese mysticism of any sort. Growing up as a Chinese American, I have heard from my mother or other superstitious aunties the "magical" or occult aspects of our culture, or even learned them from old Kung Fu soap operas, but never in a scholarly way based on historical facts. I have been a student of Western magical traditions or the dreaded title of New Age beliefs, however like you I do not feel that is a correct representation of what is in my heart and soul, therefore I have not actually practiced the craft. The Taoism I learned in Western schooling do not cover the more mystical aspects...I am delving into your channel to learn more. Thank you!

This is a great video. Not new to esotericism, but delving into the Taoist perspective of it, and I really appreciate the balanced & grounded approach you take - especially about idolizing the "guru" or teacher. Unfortunately, this polarity seems to play itself out a lot in spiritual & esoteric circles, and I'm so grateful you took the time to mention it! There's always going to be someone looking to take advantage and, unfortunately, there is always someone looking to give away their power to them. Looking forward to listening to the rest of your videos!

Dear Miss Wen... salutations...please allow myself to Clarify a little bit more on the meaning of certain words that unfortunately are running around more as a fashion than trying to get closer to it's root meaning...let's first see the meaning of the Persian word "Magi" used to refer to a Zardushti priest or non ambiguous man of knowledge..in the West people call such persons as Zoroastrians..Magi refers to this..a centered logical and profound spiritual perception person,he or she may use Astrology..or astronomy mathematics..and magnetic perception to see and advise...than we have.. Shaman...is a Siberian Mongolian word that means as follows (not Wikipedia)..Sha (like king or emperor/pronounced as Sho') and Maan similar to Chinese for door or portal or gate same as in Yucatan (Maya culture).. when assembled together the meaning goes to Those who have the power to cross the "Door" and come back to inform..or even the emperor of the passage among other similar meanings..so a true shaman or magi will never say or admit to be so.. as part of the detained power basic rule..no "I" involved ever.. just being a messenger....hoping to have been non intruding...be well

Immortality is an interesting concept. In my experience death is one of the the most beautiful portals available to the human being. In my opinion death is an extremely sacred opportunity to condense into the heart space which facilitates entry into realms that are born out of pure love. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if human aversion to death is one of the most debilitating obstructions to success in human life.

These were general, generic, broad strokes insights from an unproven, NOT science-based form of spiritual and holistic health belief system from my culture. Not to mention there are always exceptions. Always defer to the qualified medical advice of your health care provider. If that wasn't obvious to you, my recommendation is to not watch videos on occult topics. That or you intentionally construed what I said in bad faith.
