2023 marks 20 years since Bentley secured its victory with the Speed 8 at the 24hrs Le Mans endurance race. That was Bentley's most recent win at Le Mans and the last overall success from a British manufacturer. The development of the Speed 8 and how Bentley managed to defeat Audi with a car based on the Audi R8 LMP is quite interesting.

A few years ago I was lucky to chat on Facebook with the designer of the 2003 Bentley Speed 8, not knowing who he is. We were discussing the Aeromaster LMP kit car, which is a replica of the Bentley Speed 8. And I developed the replica back in 2007-2011. I felt quite strange. He showed a great personality! What a legend!

One of the best looking LM protos ever hands down. Even if under her skin was the evolution of the english-team R8 Coupè which ran in 1999. Which also was an heck of a beauty (well IDK about you but I have an interesting deeeep crush with long tails 😅) but also an hell of a faliure. And since it was designed by the british AUDI Team brench instead of the main german one whom had the brilliant-performing R8 Roadster (which became THE R8 we all know today from 2000 on...) why not give it a nice British Racing Green paint, a Bentley banner and make some extra money and publicity for a manufacture you own which is in crysis, even by reviving the "Bentley Boys" Legend? But even if it was a well thought marketing move, it still ended up producing, at the coast of repeating myself, the most elegant and beautiful LMP of the first 21st Century decade hands down! ❤ Great docu pal for a great car. Now it's the Lamborghini turn to shine for them! 😅 And she is also beautiful... but what Hypercar is not? This Era of Endurance is producing some of the most stunning cars which flew on the Hunaudières. Just look at the elegant 963, the aggressive as majestically breathtaking 499P, the futuristic 9X8.. and so on ending with the peculiar-looking as catchy SG-007 (fingers crossed for the "Glicken" EVO-2024 guys... I don't wanna see the one that started the HY Era end it's Racing History without even winning a race, let's remember Monza 2022! Good luck Jim!)

I usually like slope races but this is so beautiful and technically complete I decided to put every historic race car from 1923 to 1999 I got in line one after another to chrono each one of them. And I got 1850 of them and counting. ❤

I remember playing the first forza Motorsport when I was a kid and seeing the car being the last, and hardest car to unlock. When I finally unlocked it I remember it being the only car that scared me for its speed and agility. I will always love this car forever! ❤
