Thank you all for sharing your stories on this underrepresented and profound subject. It is also so encouraging to see a psychiatric trainee (Dr. Horowitz) that is interested in learning describing techniques. Our one hope is that future medical practitioners will have the knowledge to alleviate this epidemic of suffering and suicide as a result of psychotropic medication. As a survivor, I feel so grateful to be a part of such an accepting and knowledge based community.

23 months off Effexor XR, 34 months off Topamax and 42 months off Klonopin. Thanks so much for the information, validation and support. I was prescribed Klonopin for 33 years, Effexor XR for 18 years, and Topamax for 13 years ~ long term??? The anger and rage I felt towards the medical community scared me! Thankfully, exercise helped with those feelings. I walk at least 5 miles each morning and that helps me deal with life throughout the day. I often wonder what my "new normal" will be as I go through the healing process. My personality was drugged and I became withdrawn. Now, I'm coming back. I now have passions again. I'm still quite debilitated, but my personality is slowly emerging. I see doctor's as legal pill pushers rather than the helpers they were meant to be. My, how much we learn tapering off drugs. My family is not supportive and somewhat ignorant ~ I keep them at a distance. I've always been a questioning person, but I didn't pay attention to that voice inside me closely enough. I know better now and will remain drug-free. We are our best advocates.......... Thanks again ~ Janet

Hx of taken-as-prescribed benzo/tricyclic hell + concussion. It's hard, but stay strong folks. Our bodies are designed by God to heal themselves. Just get yourself in the right environment around the right people and trust God!

I'm still alittle confused johnathan Davis cane off I high amount of xanax he us doing fine eminem abused benzos and opiates he is doing fine also stevie Nick's came off a high amount of klonopin and is doing fine they all suffered withdrawals but what did they do that's different..cause they all survived it

Yes there definitely is a lot of people that have come off Benzodiazepines who have used them for years and ended up being fine other than the acute withdrawal they went thru briefly. Jonathan Davis said it took him a full year to feel relatively normal again . Personally I took 0.5 mg Klonopin for 10 months and have been disabled, home bound, non functional, and haven’t slept more than 1-3 hours for the last 34 months and counting.

@@VWERIC10 I am just not sure what life I would be reclaiming because I dont remember what i would be reclaiming.I dont see the Xanax as a problem but as a solution to what happened to me mentally after having cancer back to back with a divorce in which i lost everything because cancer was not an ailment according to the justice system.

Who can afford that even? I don’t think it works for Benzo Damage however!!! Our Gaba Receptors are totally gone & have to actually grow back ! This effects our whole nervous system & Hormone structure & we are FUCKED BASICALLY 3 years after Tapering off the drug! This is why so many SUICIDES Happen! 3 years of Torture is TOOOOO LONG

@@michelebergman4336 it works. That's all I can say. I home inject. Even during taper I'm sleeping over 6 hrs and almost no symptoms. Compared to being almost completely bed ridden .I can also work 8 hr days easily.

@@michelebergman4336 Don't go to the clinics they are a rip off. Get a drs script and get from an online compounding pharmacy. I self inject 25 to 50mgs daily during my taper. I'm good. When I eventually jump off in another 60 days or so I'm confident I'll be ok. It's about 150 dollars per 1000mg. Clinics charge 1k per 1000mg

Thomas Rehder there’s no such thing as “Abusing” Benzos! Even if u take Smallest amt for only a few weeks... you body & brain is Damaged & u are stuck in TORTURING WITHRAWELS FOR A YEAR just as if you’d been taking them for years ! This is not supposed to be taken more than 2ce in a row!
