Bought one over a year ago and have become very impressed with the platform. It takes about 200 rounds for these pistols to get broken in and run reliably with all loads. I've experienced the same issues with cheap 115 gr. range loads as others have, but it has been 100% with quality defense ammo since round #1, and after several hundred break-in rounds the thing will run reliably with any 9mm load I've fed it. Three mods I strongly recommend. First, Pearce grip extender on the 6 round magazine greatly improves the handling without really increasing the overall concealed carry footprint. Second, Talon grips greatly improve the 'feel'. Last, the Beretta factory Tritium sights let you know where the front sight is in dark conditions. I'm so impressed with the Nano that I recently bought a second one as a 'spare'.

I experienced similar problems with the cheap 115gr ammo. Switched to 124gr and 147gr commercial and handloaded ammo - no more problems. From what I read online, the Nano was originally to be launched in .40 SW - perhaps others have also read the same? My Nano is very accurate and my CCW.

I am very happy with my Nano. I did have to send it back to Beretta for failure to extract. They fixed the problem and I have put several hundred rounds through it with no problems. I believe that when manufacturers make 9mm handguns as small as the Nano, Sig 938 etc. that reliability must be confirmed by the owner before being used as an ECD. I always enjoy the videos you make so please keep them coming.

I got a good Nano. I was worried when I first got it but I went to the range today and shot it for the first time, put 100 rounds of 124 grain and 50 rounds of 115 with zero problems or hiccups. Very accurate for its size too. I'm super happy with mine.

Nice review Justin, I bought the Nano right when they first came out. I think the reason they are not as popular is due to the FTE's that a lot of people have with them. I love mine, it's not my main carry "summer/shorts" gun, but I carried her a lot. I did a simple 25 cents job trigger, and it got much better, 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 lbs on mine. I had some FTE's in the first couple hundreds rounds, but I got a Galloway recoil spring, and also, I only have been shooting my own reloads, 124 gn. I haven't got any FTE in a long time. She has a little over 1000 rounds through her. Although I love mine, I don't know if I'd recommend it for someone as their self defensive gun. Not when there are other options like Shield, LC9 pro, XDS, and G 43.

+Brazillian Bully Thanks for the in-depth comment. I'm planning to get this one back out soon for a deep dive look. The FTE is concerning for any firearm, but especially for one intended for personal self-defense. But there is a lot to like about it, so I'm looking forward to more shooting!

6:06 It's actually rather heavy, when you compare to other 6+1 pocket 9mm such as Kahr CM9/PM9, or even to 7+1 "large pocket" 9mm like Ruger LC9. It's about 4 ounces or 25% heavier than the CM9/PM9, for no reason (even lacks the external slide stop that the Kahr has).

For take down, no tool is necessary. It's designed to utilize the front lip of the magazine baseplate or the rim of any shell casing to rotate the takedown lever. The Pico is designed the same way.

Bought mine in 2013,DEC., had crazy FTE/FTF ie.25/100 rounds. Winchester .blazer didn't matter. It started breaking in at 500/700 rounds. At 1100/1300 was a different gun, just kept getting better. At 1800 it was like butter and I like it more and more. I now have 2400 rounds and don't really shoot it much, don't need to. Very accurate and easy to carry. Talon grips and night sights ,,,, it's just sweet. Your gun will probably have very few issues if any this far into production. Hope you have a follow up with this gun. Beretta suggest you don't dry fire this gun too much.

After multiple FTE's and two trips back to Beretta, mine had a major fail at 3k rounds. Barrel locking area peeled back enough to lock against the slide hood ! Pics on Beretta Forum (do an advanced search on their forum under my name for more Nano details).

Owner of a nano since they were realesed. First one was replaced by Beretta because of repeated failures to extract. Second one worked for several thousand rounds and now experiencing the same problems again. Has nothing to do with the grain of the round as people often say. The problem is with the extractor coming loose and not adequately gripping the rim of the round. Hence the spent casing sitting in the barrel. Overall, not a reliable weapon.

I think I had 3 FTEs in the first 100. Beretta had some issues with it when it first came out with 115 grain ammo, went back and worked on it and replaced a couple of parts, the elector and ejector spring, I think, and it took care of the issue after the first few rounds. I like the way it shoots and it is great for IWB carry. I still prefer to carry my Sig P239, because the trigger is so much nicer than a typical striker fired gun. I am a big fan, so keep them coming and give Kuno an ear scratching for me.

I've been using Federal 115gr ammo in mine at the range, no issues to speak of. I had 2 FTE's with Hornady hollow points, but nothing since. My only issue with this pistol is the trigger. But like you said, roll through it like shooting a revolver. Use a medium speed pull straight through. I think I shot worse when trying to do a slow squeeze. And I did surprisingly well one handed. GREAT video, thanks! I have a couple vids of mine on my channel.

I have a nano that i got the first month avail... About 3k rounds and never had a malfunction... FTE are common on the nano with light 115gr... Reason that beretta military division gave me is that it was design around the nato round. The recoil of the 115grain is not sufficient to make the slide travel full. Feed it 124 or higher and you will never have any issues. After 500 rounds i have fed it anything and no issues

Sure Sr., Galloway have them with different poundage, so you can use the one more suitable for the type of ammo. I think Beretta should have done this one right since the beginning, or at least fixed. But it seems they didn't it, and Nano lost the run. It's a shame, I really like them. The fit, the way they shoot, incredibly accurate little pistols. Like I said, for someone buying their only one gun, no... But, if you have one and have issues with FTE's, the aftermarket recoil spring may solve the problem. After not having any issues with mine, with all my reloads, and a variety of self defense ammo, I trust my life on my little Nano.

Great commentary. First time viewer, and like you I find the Nano easy to grip and to shoot, pinky or no. FTE's were pretty widely reported to occur with 115 grain ammo or lighter in the first 500 rounds, but not with 124 grain and above, with those loads working fine after that break-in. This was a bigger concern when they first came out and "no one knew why." Any chance the Herter's was 115?
