I was ahead of the curve. The first handgun I ever bought, right after my 21st birthday was a full size Px4 9mm type F. I have put thousands of rounds through it and only had one failure beyond the constant failures that time I shot my friends incredibly shitty reloads through it and likely nearly injured myself. I have had this weapon for almost a decade now and I carry it off duty every single day. I am a cop and a soldier and I would bet my life on this handgun any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I don't say that lightly. It actually has saved my life.

I was a skeptic with the Px4 compact. The first thing I noticed is that the grip was so "slick" feeling I could not get a tight enough feel. The only two mods I made were Talon Grips & converting it to a Type G. Now I love it. It performs flawlessly and is my go-to range and carry gun.

Awesome! These were the first two changes I made, and loved it! However, if you want to make your PX4 even more fun to shoot, swap the hammer spring to Beretta's D-Spring or LTT's 11# or 12# - INCREDIBLE how much difference this makes! I installed the D-spring first and noticed a significant drop in DA/SA trigger pull weights. I noticed an additional drop when I switched to the LTT 11#. I now have the LTT 11# installed in my Inox full-size and compact and LOVE IT! Truly AMAZING what a

@@M--GT8223 I agree with you 100%! I had a Glock and I was always having to see if it was safe or not, so I bought a Ruger P345 with the hammer and loved it. It gives me a much better feeling of safety. In 2014, I read about the PX4 Storm, so I went shopping. I saw my first one at a Sports Academy and fell in love FOR SURE. This is a beeyooteeful gun! Now, I know you aren't supposed to buy a gun for looks, but I did it anyway and when I took it to the range, I was hooked. This thing is MUCH smoother than my Ruger and I've used it in comparison to some other guns in the club I belong to. Nothing I fired (okay, maybe a Kimber did) was as smooth as the Beretta PX4 Storm. S&W, nothing comparable, Glock, okay, Colt, pretty good, but that's because it is heavier even another Baretta ( I think it was a 97), was not nearly as good. I've got a couple of friends that are part of the "striker cult" and we've fired each others guns. I wasn't able to win them over with my Beretta (I think they knew which was better, but just wouldn't admit it) and they sure didn't win me over (even though that Kimber I tried came close, but I can't afford one of those). OFF WITH THEIR HEADS ! LOL

Excellent video. It's nice to see the PX4 get some love. I've owned one for a couple years now & love it. Added the sub-compact to the collection for awhile, but recently moved it out. Really preferred the compact. Fits my hand perfectly. It's also way more accurate than I'm capable of coaxing from it. Don't see myself parting with this one anytime soon.

I am really gratified that DA/SA is coming back into "fashion", and that younger shooters are coming around to the benefits of this type of pistol. I may have to give the Px4 a try, but it will have a hard time beating my Walther P99cAS, which is a rarity in that the P99 is DA/SA and striker fired. I am enjoying your videos sir. thanks.

I always have at least an old Alley Cat (which was retired due to its rarity) or a Tomcat in my pocket, and I think this PX4 Compact Carry will be my new carry or home gun, alternating with various Sig Sauers, a rebuilt surplus Hi Power, I call "Silver Blue and Gold" and a Sphinx Alpha compact. I use the 147 grain HSTs in my Glock 43 BUG, which has kind of replaced the Tomcat, but not really. It depends on what I am wearing that day. I can zip 8 .32ACPs into a group the size of a volley ball from 40 yards with that tiny Beretta mouse gun, and I always have between 7 and 21 more rounds box magged up and ready to go again. The thing I dislike about Glock is, it's not a good gun right out of the box, and the first thing you do, is spend more money on the dumb things. $1 plastic sights, a mediocre trigger, a slide that is barely adequate, grips, extended slide release, and you are up way over $1000 really fast, and it;s still just another Glock. The PX4 shoots better, but so does the $350 Turkish made Canik, or Sar for that matter. My father worked for the feds, so I knew just because the cops used it, or military, did NOT even make it good, therefore it was certainly not going to be great. Usually those guns spent 99.95% of their time in a holster, until qualifying time came up again. That's not a bad thing, especially when it's your daddy who is out there, not needing to use a gun.

I picked mine up almost on a whim, and I absolutely love it. It shoots softly and well, and it's ridiculously reliable. I haven't seen a failure from it yet, but, then, 1500 rounds without a cleaning is not a use case in my life. The only thing I don't care for is the size of the bat wing decocker. I would absolutely buy it again. The PX4 is criminally underrated.

I have also wearing an M&P9c daily but for safety reasons want a different action. I picked the PX 4 compact because I'm "wrong-handed" and having the option to release the slide with the lever if I'm ever in a gun fight and have to reload is a must for me. I own the FNS 9 compact which is striker fired. but I love the long first pull of the DA/SA Beretta. the FNX grip is too long for me to conceal properly and comfortably. And my accuracy with the PX4 is top notch compared to any other pistols I own except my XD and XDm. but I leave trigger components stock. I have no issues changing cosmetics like sights, grip tape, or even colors. I learned in the Army Infantry that trigger weight doesn't matter, 10 pounds feels like 2 pounds under stress, but the smoother the trigger pull the better. great video!

I love, love, love this gun and it is my daily concealed carry. By the way, put in a DPM recoil system and it shoots even softer. At this point I think Beretta is the best gun company out there. Not only are they cool because they’re one of if not the oldest companies around in general, they make the best full size 9mm handgun, they make great little concealed carry options, they own Benelli which is of course a great shotgun brand, but did you guys also know that Beretta technically owns stoeger? So not only do they sell all these classic and new high end firearms, but they also sell fantastic affordable options too! Stoeger shotguns are cheap(er) and very good, while they also make a glock knockoff in compact or full size that is REALLY cheap which I own and love, along with a stoeger double barrel that makes me incredibly happy to shoot. On top of all that, the presentation is pristine. My stepdad just got a new 92g and it came with 3 extra magazines in a really nice case. Meanwhile I just bought a Kimber for twice the price and got a shitty nylon zip bag in a cardboard box with literally not one other thing but the papers and ads.

You make very good and very well done videos. Adult, literate, logical, methodical and not hysterica, biasesl or incoherent like too many other "good ole boys" gun centered videos. I've been considering the Beretta PX4 line of pistols for both carry and home defense. If you haven't already, please discuss the issue of is a compact pistol also suitable for a home defense weapon in a smaller house or would it be better or necessary to have a full size weapon for all purposes. Where would you consider a full size (approx 4 inch or longer barrel) and capacity to be better and or more necessary. Thank you. Again,... very well made and spoken videos.
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 6 жыл бұрын
Any gun you would carry can also be used for home defense. A larger gun might give you more capacity, but do you know of any home defense cases where more than 15 rounds were needed? If you shoot a larger gun significantly better than your carry gun, that is worth considering. I shoot a full size Beretta 92 a little better than the PX4 compact, but inside of 15 yards, the difference is negligible. If you like the PX4 Compact, you will get far more benefit from spending your money on training and ammo than buying a bigger gun designated for the home.

God am I tired of constantly hearing “glock 19.” I’m sure that has a little to do with why I carry this. Also the utility of a DA/SA trigger when you actually need to draw and fire the weapon, but don’t want to have a loaded weapon with no safety pointed at my left testicle. And the ridiculous durability thanks to the over-built, hammer-forged rotating barrel, and fully supported chamber. And did I mention the trigger is awesome? It’s awesome. And the ergonomics; Great stock grip. And the reliability; Better than a glock 19 according to a few tests. More rounds between stoppages, and until parts breakage, mostly due to the two opposed extractors and, again, over-built locking mechanism. Then there’s the implied mechanical accuracy advantage, but I haven’t seen data on that. Oh, and the factory sights are solid. Yeah I’m saying this straight up; This is a better gun than the glock 19. Harder, better, faster, stronger.

Nice review! I bought a CZ P07 (Gen 2) for use as my AIWB winter carry vs. my Glock 19. I also bought a Vedder LightTuck kydex holster for it that is simply fantastic. Don't want to be misunderstood here though. The Glock 19 is a great pistol! However, I couldn't comfortably carry it anywhere except at the appendix position. As such, I wasn't comfortable with the DAO trigger on the G19 pointing straight down towards some very vital areas, vs. the DA/SA action of the CZ P07. In addition, the contouring of the grip and slide is (for some reason) more comfortable for me to carry vs. the G19. I still use my G43 (replaced my G27) as my summer carry in a leather/kydex OWB holster at 3 O'clock with an un-tucked shirt. I think the PX4 compact is a nice option as well, but I have to say I really love the P07 (it's my first CZ of any type).

Wait, I've not heard about people advocating double actions. Can you tell me why?
@ginafurannetonic3048
@ginafurannetonic3048 4 жыл бұрын
In a way, a double action on a gun with a hammer is the equivalent of the guns safety. It will cock the hammer and fire in one trigger pull (that is the guns double action). The weight of the pull for the initial trigger pull is heavy enough to decrease the risk of accidentally shooting your self. Most modern revolvers have a trigger pull like this. The gun can also be cocked first and then shot with the trigger pull which in this case is basically just a light click (this is the single action). This is the way hammer fired guns have worked since flintlock days. So now back to the modern day semiautomatic with a hammer. You can carry your gun loaded with no safety to worry about at all, be able to pull, shoot, and have the automatic reload and cock the gun for you. While there is no “safety”, no switch to flip, no fancy trigger you have to get your finger on just right, no pommel grip you have to grab tightly; the heavy weight of the initial trigger pull caused by the double action keeps the trigger from accidentally being pulled. You have to really think about it. Plus you really should not have your finger on the trigger unless you want to shoot the thing you are pointing your gun at. At the gun show I went to recently people were showing me their hammer fired pistols that require the “cocked and locked “ way of carrying and I shuttered every time I saw it. 1 it requires the safety to be removed before it can be fired, 2 if the safety is off accidentally the trigger just needs that light click of a single action trigger. I own a Beretta Px4 Compact. I really like it. I have a Beretta 92FS and liked the Px4 because of the similar controls and Beretta quality.

For a company that was started nearly 500 years ago.Pietro Beretta has set the bench mark for weapons design and reliability.The PX4 is the official side arm of the South African police force.How many weapons making companies put 150.000 rounds down range to test for any possible failure,before the weapon is certified for sale.To visit the Beretta factory in Gardone Val Trompia by appointment,the cost is $ 5000.Quality comes at a premium price and so it should.Just look at any Beretta shotgun and see the meticulous engraving and craftmansip that goes into these fine weapons.My brother in law was a Springbok Clay Pidgeon member his shotgun was a work of art.

After shooting the px4 storm full size, my extra medium hands needed a few sessions to get used to this pistol. It was my very first gun and my very first shot from a gun ever. Loaded with lawman .40, it was at first quite the POW! But never felt like it was out of control. I do wish grip was a touch more narrow, but whatever the gun, Please take time to get practice in w your weapon of choice

I have a full sized PX4 decocker only. The PX4 is comfortable in my hands. I can reach the slide release so I don't have to use my support hand to send the slide home. its very accurate and didn't cost a kings ransom. My ONLY complaint is aftermarket support isn't up to the level of its competitors.

I started out carrying striker fired but then converted to DA/SA several years ago before it began making a come back. And just a few days ago when i went back to a G26 appendix, it seemed mentally as if i was carrying a 1911 with the safety off.

Would you say converting the safety to a decocker is a must? Or do you think the safety is a good feature for appendix carry for those with average size hands and they wouldn't have a problem taking the safety off when drawing the pistol?
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 8 жыл бұрын
+MerePrepper I consider the decock conversion a must for myself, but only for the sake of consistency. I think a manual safety is redundant on a DA gun but some people like them and that's fine if they're proficient with it. It's been a long time since I did any real practice disengaging a slide mounted safety during the draw stroke so I couldn't really comment on how difficult it is. It adds complexity and a potential failure point without adding much in terms of actual safety, so I'm not really a fan.

I have a question, if you hate the safety/decocker, why would you mechanically change to just a decocker rather than just carry with the safety off?
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 7 жыл бұрын
ultimate lacrosse Because there is always the chance that the safety will be engaged inadvertently and since I am not in the habit of disengaging it as part of my draw stroke, I wouldn't know anything is wrong until I press the trigger and nothing happens.

bought my wife the px4 compact in 9mm. she loves it. she's 4'10 and not many guns fit her hands, but she said the px4 was perfect. and she loves the mechanics of it with its rotating barrel. I'll be switching out the trigger for her soon so it's lighter with less take-up.
@SwanLakeLibra

how will you be switching out the trigger? I'm a female have the compact 9mm too & thinking about selling it cause I hate the heavy DA weight. Also, I hate the sights on it too. Thanks
@TietLung
@TietLung 8 жыл бұрын
+SwanLakeLibra Beretta makes a trigger kit for it that lightens the trigger pull. I haven't seen anyone who's done it yet, but it can't make it worse. the double action trigger isn't bad if you're used to shooting revolvers, which we all shoot pretty regularly. honestly for carry, if I'm going to have a gun that does double action and single action, I'll go with a cz. their compact models are sweet. but my wife loves her Beretta and enjoys shooting it so it's what she has chosen to be her carry piece, so I'll give the trigger a try and change the decocker/safety to recover only. it'll make it a much better carry option.
@LuckyGunner
@LuckyGunner 8 жыл бұрын
+TietLung The trigger kit is unnecessary. The Beretta "D" spring made for the PX4 or the Cougar will lighten the double action trigger enough to be more manageable.
@TietLung
@TietLung 8 жыл бұрын
+Lucky Gunner Ammo true, but I want the take up in the trigger, taken out. it has a lot of unnecessary slack in the trigger. and the single action press can definitely be made better than it is. I dont get why companies do this with their triggers. Springfield is guilty of it too with their xd and xdm line. I'm putting a powder River kit in my XD to make it more how a single action trigger should be. hoping the kit Beretta offers is similar to that.
