In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

As I said in one of my other comments on here our N.H.S. has been in operation for the past almost 75 years and the vast majority of our population hasn't known any other system of healthcare, have we? Only those of us who are aged well over 80 or in their 90's can remember how things used to be prior to its creation and introduction, aren't they? If any of our Governments think that all of us Brits would put up with their intention to try to turn it into a wholly privatised system such as they have in the U.S.A. then they can think again because we'd all be up in arms against them. As something like that affects everyone irrespective of their ages or circumstances and we ordinary U.K. citizens obviously outnumber them they'd be digging their own graves politically-speaking if they tried to introduce such a system in this country, wouldn't they? Additionally they'd have to completely overhaul the financing of our N.H.S. by getting rid of its current means of financing, i.e. by excluding Income Tax and National Insurance from the mix and then substituting both of them with private medical insurance for all of us throughout our entire lives, wouldn't they? Simply put, as our N.H.S. is exactly that - OUR N.H.S. - and not theirs it's a publicly owned and financed organisation and they'd have to change its status through an Act of Parliament which means that, as with any other Act of Parliament, it has to be signed into law by King Charles III....even if it manages to get through Parliament in the first place that is. I doubt very much if the King would even agree to sign it into place, don't you? If he refused to sign it because he wouldn't want to create discord throughout the entire country his popularity would soar and those same politicians who took it upon themselves to try to pass such a law would end up on the scrapheap of history where they obviously belong, wouldn't they?

US healthcare is messed up. A mate of mine had a minor road related accident in US and needed surgery on his finger. Afterwards the hospital sent a bill to the insurance for over 40 grand. In the preceding couple days of stress they basically haggled them down to the low 20s. It’s madness and if you think the NHS is bad, it can be worse ppl. Stay safe…esp. if you’re in US

I had lower back surgery during the Pandemic, had to or I was going to loss the use of my legs.. My portion of the surgery is 65,000. you read that right. I have 2 health insurances & still have to pay 65k, plus pay for my health insurance (359 - family plan) every month

When during the Trump administration the bottom 1/5th of wage earners had their incomes rise the fastest of all groups. That was the first time that had happened since the George W Bush administration. Because both Trump and W. used Kennedy's theory of using lower taxes, less immigration, deregulation, and smaller government to tighten up the labor market. Which raises wages, allows mobility, allows for advancement, and gives people dignity. Compare that to the Democrat policies of using high taxes, over regulation, open immigration, and big government to put permanent slack into the labor market. Which drives down wages and drives up housing prices at the same time, to the point tens of millions of people don't have any money left over at the end of the month. And it's the low wages at the bottom that allows the excesses at the top, causing the wealth gap. Raising the bottom 1/5th of wage earners wealth relative to everyone else is something liberals will never be able to do because of their policies. Whether unwittingly or intentionally, Bernie's policies are the cause of the wealth gap. If Bernie actually cared about poor and working class people, Bernie would be a Kennedy/Reagan conservative.

Very interesting video and I strongly agree with 99% of what Bernie had to say. As regards the UK moving to an American style of health care system I would say Don't Even Consider It! I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 52 years and have earned a Phd in American Medical Dysfunction via day to day contact with that system. For 35 years the only way I could obtain health insurance was by work for a company large enough to offer health insurance without a "preexisting condition" clause. No insurance company in America would sell a private insurance plan to,someone with a chronic health condition without a clause denying coverage for illnesses related to that condition or conditions. You will often hear it said that Americans pay them highest prices in the world for prescription medications. But you will seldom hear just how how much more that amounts to. Here are a couple of examples. A drug that I took for my arthritis cost $260 for 60 tablets here in the USA. The exact same drug, made by the same manufacturer sold in Canada for $114 and that was for 100 tablets! So the cost per tablet in the USA was $4.33 while in Canada the same exact tablet cost $1.14! Now comes the best part, Canadian drugs are the fourth most expensive in the world! My advice is before converting to American style health care read the book "An American Sickness" by Elizabeth Rosenthal M.D. This excellent book covers all aspects of our near totally dysfunctional medical system in great detail and believe me you are going to be appalled by what you read!

One afternoon standing in line at the pharmacy, I heard the pharmacy staff member tell the woman in front of me that the cost of her prescriptions was over $1,000! I was truly shocked. I have to use the brand name eye drops for my glaucoma since I'm allergic to something in the generic drops (yes, even the ones without preservatives). A three month supply costs me over $125 (the cost just went up so I don't remember what it is now). Social Security and Medicare are lifesavers in the truest sense.

My brother was a diabetic and insulin dependent. He had "brittle" diabetes. His work insurance wasn't covering the full cost of his insulin, so without my knowledge, he began to ration his insulin in order to have enough. He didn't manage this well. He also couldn't afford to see an eye doctor or buy glasses and depended on reading glasses from the pharmacy as his eye sight diminished. He died in his bathroom one morning when he was 56.

This week alone I went to an IN-NETWORK clinic (literally found it on the list of the in-network page) and the claim was turned down saying it's out-of-network. Like.. what? They need to stop getting away with this. Insurance is HUNDREDS of dollars per month (for my husband and I it's $900/month) and we hardly ever go to the dr, even when we're sick, we only go if we need a prescription, and they get to send you to the absolute worst places to get healthcare from only to still turn you down. It's a total con and the government should never accept lobbying or money from insurance/pharmaceutical/medical businesses, and everyone in the government has to be on the same healthcare as the rest of us (because they're not, mind you: they're fully covered with our taxes).
