Here is my idea, from your idea. 2 teams, 4 players on each team, each player gets an individual resource in the nothing format. Market is not allowed, but the tech that gets rid of tribute cost is researched. Teams have to tribute the different resources around to their teammates to properly spread out resources.

I second this, and I'd add it disabling all the eco-techs/bonuses for all civs (including market techs, and any unique techs like the Indian Sultans). So basically you always have Dark Age collection rates. That would force everyone to devote a lot of pop space to villagers, as well as make eco-raids harder to bounce back from since you need to have a lot of vills to be able to support Imperial Age armies. Also, no Feitoria in case that becomes competitive here.

I'm curious, does the extra income from a long trade route make up for the fact that the route takes longer to complete? I mean, if I have a short route that gives my 5 gold, and you've got a long one that gives 100 gold, but I can get mine done 30 times in the time it takes you to complete 1... My short route is better. Particularly since it's more defensible. So, what is the tipping point between time and money? I've never played AoE, so I'm sorry if I'm making assumptions.

That's actually an interesting one. Planning what to do first when you can afford to do anything right from the start might get tough if you want to remain competitive. I can see some people building a huge army right away and going on the offensive, while others might focus on rock-solid defenses at first. It would be interesting to see.

Not sure why he thought Inca was bad. His special unit is a powerful anti cavalry unit, that costs no wood. All he needed was a castle, which was cheaper than building houses. He had berries for food and trade for gold. Could have dominated with Kamayuks. Even the slingers don't cost wood. He could have been the only one with ranged units.

NEW BUILDING PROPOSAL: 1. a wooden castle: it's a cheaper version of a normal castle (maybe 450 wood, 150 stone), can train whatever units, produces a cuillard (a small trebuchet; weaker damage, same range) or a siege ballista (ballista/treb mix). a player can build up to 5 wooden castles, but not more. to unlock more, 1 stone castle is needed. 2. make stone castles stronger (so wooden ones are not too incitive). 3. upgrade to bombard castle available to one civ as unique building. also, ballista tower or ballista castle might be interesting. 4. wooden tower (350 wood, 50 gold) weaker version of a stone tower. 5. upgrade observation post to shoot arrows 6. unique tech idea - lordship: castle can serve as resource collection point. 7. unique tech idea - outer walls: a ring of fortified stone walls is added around each castles. (i KNOOW you can in theory do this on your own, but noone does it, so maybe having this option will make it more popular).

I once had an idea for a Nothing Nothing map where each players starts with nothing but a Villager, a King and a bunch of resources with the map having... nothing. The only question would be how much of each resource would be appropriate.

Do fish nothing. Basically a naval map but each player gets a very small thin island for houses, TC and other basic building. But the island must be small enough that ships can reach from all sides. Theyd have to get resources from fish and trade cogs after thought, do a thin border around the map with trees for wood for the navy, but the only way to win would be with navy

Make a map divided equally into six "sections". Start one player dead center in each section. Team game, 3v3. Fill each section with a different resource for the team. So each team has one section that is all wood, all bushes, and all stone. Give all players Banking research at the start. Allow resource destruction as in the "Nothing" series of maps for terrain expansion. This will add a new dynamic to the game requiring players to communicate and constantly tribute resources around to ensure all players on a team can build. Additionally because of the influx of resources, when players use the market to exchange resources for gold one resource will suddenly drastically change in value, which might make it worth sniping by another player.

Idea: Wolf-Statue Forest Nothing. Four gold deposits surrounded by wolves surrounded by one layer of stone deposits, this formation is spread out across the map repeatedly and the space between them is filled in with trees. Each player starts off with a town center and trade market stacked while surrounded by 'Wolf-Statues' so they have to break through at least one of them to get resources after the initial bits from stone and a few trees. Additionally, since they can't build anything without more room, they probably have to figure out how to manage their villagers when trying to kill the wolves and not outright lose everything.

If it makes you feel better, T90, my last name is Payne. My first name pairs perfectly with it. It was all cheese growing up, but i did not whine. I got even. I was also the first and only male to have, and keep, long hair beyond 10 years old at my schools. (Elementary and High school. 22 years later, still have long hair.) Growing up in the late 90's and through the early 2000's, i was an anomaly. Girls and women, loved it. Boys hated it. Jokes about my sexuality, gender, drugs, and even socioeconomic status for days. Also, i had glasses... Lucky, i had 3 older brothers, athletic build, and knowledge. There was nothing the kids could do to rattle me because of my brothers. They taught me how to fight, both physically and verbally. Trials by fire. On top of that, my friends and i encouraged those rituals. I passed them on to my friends and their siblings. (All of my friends were the oldest of their siblings.) Life was fun. There were times of peace and times of war. The peace always had to be earned because someone always wanted to try something. I was not the "top dog" during school. I was not the popular kid. I was well known, sure. But that was just because i stood out, and not entirely by choice. I, mostly, just wanted to be left alone and had to fight for just that. Sorry for the winded story... i may have gotten a little carried away. The point is, i know your pain, Mr. T.B. here is how you recognize a vegan, they don't eat eggs and cheese or drink milk, not terribly funny but it is factual. As for the guy on the stream who said he is vegan because he wants plants to die, you do realize more of them die to feed the animals that become meat right? Also, T90, how about a map with nothing but gold deposits? it seems like it would be interesting. As for something to eat that would be a middle finger to who is executing you....... It would almost certainly be refused but puffer-fish liver. You would almost certainly be dead in 8 hours without medical assistance. It is also noteworthy in that it is possible to survive if you are put on oxygen for about 24 hours. As such make sure that don't happen.

Look at every other player, they've clogged up their harvesting with houses and too many villagers. Yellow got his villagers right on the berry line, immediately adjacent to the TC. Not only is he gathering food faster he's, more importantly, clearing space much much faster. I'm rooting for him in this.

I would vote for a nothing nothing map and give each player 30,000 of each resource and ban trading/disable the market. Make them all same civ too. It would be interesting to see who prioritizes what upgrades and what different strategy's and routes are used by different players with the finite resources.

How about Everything Nothing? Each player starts in a solid wedge of a different resource. Possibly every second wedge as forest because trees have fewer resources per tile. Market prices wouldn't go unbounded, which should make a slightly less horrible game.

Inca seriously should have been making Kamayuks rather than Eagle Warriors. 30 gold for Kama vs 50 gold for Eagle. Kamayuks also have a +12 vs cav vs the +4 for Eagles.
