Hey how do you properly expose your sony a6400 and how do u get the best colors without color grading the footage.

That’s a loaded question! I typically use spot metering to determine my exposure and I put whatever I want to base the exposure on momentarily in the circle to get it exposed properly with the combination of aperture and ISO I need based on using a 1/48th shutter speed for 24 fps. I try to never go over 800 at the max for ISO, but really I want it to be as low as possible so lighting is important. As far as the best colors, you need good light and make sure the white balance is set properly so that you can get it looking as good as possible in camera. And just use the standard video setting rather than changing to any picture profiles that require grading.

Then you’re not in full manual mode. When you’d watch to video it usually gives you a choice among auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual. You need to pick manual to have control over all settings.

Aloha..a6400 i am having issue with photo/video on sunny day comes out foggy gray looking scenes...look like it was taken on cloudy day...how can i chagne/fix tthis to make it cinamatic clear sunny photo/video? Thank You.

Sounds like your lens is fogging when you go outside. Is it humid? Going from a cold house to a hot/humid outside will make your lens fog up. Have to leave it outside for a while til it goes away.

That’s quite a long video! But yea, some cameras have GB limits where it’ll split the video once it reaches that point.

No, you’d just have to check and make sure it’s still recording. Probably better to have it broken into chunks anyways so you don’t have one huge file that gets deleted or corrupted accidentally.

It depends on what you’re wanting to film. I typically do 4K @ 24fps for normal shots and FHD @ 60fps for slow motion.

You have to take it out of automatic mode first. Change it to manual and then you can manually adjust those settings.

It’s probably just different setting from the last time it was in video mode compared to photos. If the combination of aperture, shutter speed, and iso I different from what was set on photo mode, then the exposure will be different.

There is no option for cinema looking black bars top and bottom? If I want that is my choice limited to the Blackmagic 4k? What about the Fujifilm X-E4's DCI 17:9?

There is a marker option that overlays the screen so you can frame your shots based on 21:9 wide screen. Then you can adjust the framing yo the aspect ratio you want in editing. I think that’s better because it gives you more to work with in post.

Your camera is set to PAL. You need to find that setting and switch it to NTSC.

I bought a new Sony a6400. The 4K videos from my iPhone looked better than from the a6400. Also the menue is a joke. Wish I had never bought this camera.

What video settings are you using? Going from a phone that is all automatic to a camera with all those settings is a big jump and can be overwhelming with all the options and not knowing what they all do. But I can guarantee that you’ll have better quality videos from this camera once you learn how to control the settings properly.
