Everyone needs to remember, each persons body will recover differently. I'm 4 weeks post OP and I'm out of the brace with no crutches. I'm walking almost like I did before the injury, my bend is at 85° and flexion is a +1. Someone I know is 5 weeks post op and still has to use the brace and crutches. Listen to your body and don't push it to hard. Just continue with your program and you will fully recover 5-6 months.

And here I am still in phase 0 or possibly less. :D I am going on beginning of week 2 post op, my quad hasn't activated. Started feeling my hamstring and muscles below the knee feel like 100%. I haven't done any really challenging exercises. More of moving my foot around to activate muscles below the knee and walking on my crutches. My knee bends about 80 degreeish I would say and I think I am like 5'ish degrees off a straight knee. And this guy is like doing exercises my healthy knee would probably struggle with after some reps. :D

no man . when you got the mcl as well as acl its going to take longer. dont worry about how others progress because were all different a with different level of injury and type of graft. Just be patient and stay hopeful i bet youre already doing a bit better since you wrote this. i think its common people cant get the flexion until the staples or stitches come out. as for exercises its the same really. just listen to your body dont go hard with strengthening until about week 6 its all about range of motion and controlling swelling. seriously... strength is no problem to get but no pt wants to see anyone come in with lots of strenght but a swollen knee at 6 week mark.... hope that helps my g

I am nearly 3 weeks after ACL & sewing of ruptures on both medial & lateral menicus. These exercises you have are great, very well put together. However, I am not allowed to put full weight on my leg before 6 weeks after surgery.. right now I have often problems bending my knee as the swollen Hoffa fat pad basically just locks the bend. My swelling has reduced a lot but this is still happening. Have you seen this before and what do you think the probability is of it going away within a few weeks? It really restricts my bending exercises even though I can sometimes bend to around 85 degrees. (When it doesn't get in the way).
@Stizzer1237 жыл бұрын
So for some reason in America they do things very differently with regards to ACL reconstruction and recovery. in the UK it's on crutches for 6 weeks, increasing range of movement by 30 degrees every 2 weeks. You should only be partially weight bearing during the first 6 weeks and definitely not walking with your full weight on the operated leg.

I wouldn't say idiot though, that's just being rude. I had my ACL reconstruction surgery 15 days ago. Never used a splint or a brace or crutches since day 1 of post op. Only been resting for 2 days and had been doing the normal rehab exercises. Can't say that my walking has returned to normal but I can walk without favouring the involved leg after 8 days. Managed to obtain 3 degrees of leg hyperextension to date and being able to fully flex the leg but still with medium pain. Abhilash Surabhi is only saying their own opinion, chill out
@Lets_DoWhatWeWant6 жыл бұрын
Hawk Eyes please don't generalize. I just had an ACL reconstruction and my meniscus repaired I was able to walk within 24 HR. There's a lot of variables that we don't know. Abhilash Surabhi did mention "if you had treatment under a reg.PT". Pre-Surgery PT will make a difference to help the curve muscle atrophy after surgery. Also, the type of graft (hamstring, patella tendon, or allograft) used also makes a difference. Last but not the least is Post-Surgery PT If you are a medium to a professional athlete or military member that is required to be in the top physical condition PT will be there only focus therefore returning to their pre-injury conditioned faster than the normal. The rest of us have to work and fit in PT in our work schedule.

I had an acl reco with meniscus, I was advised 2 week of complete bed rest and if in case want to walk then with brace... after 2 weeks on bed have started my physiotherapy it's been only a week and it's complete magic... I can walk without crutches... the only thing I am struggling is with 100% extension of knee, it's bending a little and I am not even bothered abt it coz I feel it can be due to stiffness of muscles, swelling which I still have on my knee or maybe it's coz of the awkward position I was walking since last 4 months.... till date I am much Happy with my treatment and my physiotherapy.... I was completely shattered I was hardly able to walk. With me things are working good... I would advise you to see a good physio.... there are 4 stages involved 1. You need to be mentally get prepared for surgery 2. It should be perform by an experience doc 3. Physiotherapy and meds 4. It's the last and important your will power, you need to keep yourself strong brother... wish you a speedy recovery

J D Thank you very much! I think it is the best option for me right now. At the end, it is my responsibility anyway to recover from this. I'll try hard to work out in home. :)

Hi! I had my surgery on July 1, which means I will be completing my 3 months soon. I only have flexion ROM from 70-85 degrees as of now, and I don't have full extension either. It is quite difficult for me to get extension. My gait is also not proper due to lack of extension. Is it too late for me to get back to my normal activities ?

hello sir , my right leg knee injury on bike before 4 month ...after check my ACL problm and doct say surgry plzzz without surgery how recorvry my ligamnent and knee pain .plz do needful my help.
@rhoyalchastity033 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that due to where the ACL is located, there is "natural" way of healing. There is no blood flow through ligaments and lack of treatment (depending on how bad your condition is) could lead to long-term disability.
