Topic about resources management in p6 how efficiently we can use Resources in project
@BillSherry-d7r4 ай бұрын
I agree with Michael about the need to learn the Critical Path Method first before all other features in P6. A scheduler needs to know outcome before they press F9. If outcome is different then what they expected after they press F9. They have the ability to either understand why it was different or ask least bring the problem to an SME and tell the SME why they had that expectation.

I agree with Michael. That is how I teach P6 and MS Project, since 1990!

Good, fun stuff! I’m mostly in Michael’s camp - sorry Faraz! I see many strong P6 users. I’m in the building business. We have trouble finding strong P6 users that know how to build. Even more concerning than that is that those strong users that don’t want to learn how to build. The efficiency with the program will come - got to understand what you’re building.

Always a challenge for schedulers. Got to get them out to see what's going on in the field. Walk the site, talk to foremen.

I find that companies want to throw beginners into building right away instead of learning good scheduling practices first. A lot of time the schedulers have not learned the WBS structure, what goes where in a schedule.

P6 should not be touched when learning critical path. It should be taught with a pen and paper
