Because I'm a noob I watched your video about 10 times to have as much an understanding as I could and I bought this last fri and let me tell you thank you this thing is awesome! It's not only a great gaming router but it has other settings for everyday use that are nice as well. I pretty much only play dead by daylight on the xbox one x when I get the time. I've had this for only two days and I've only had one laggy game out of probably 100 and it only lasted for a couple seconds. My vaults and pallet drops are smooth and on time now and my great skill checks on generators have atleast tripled. It feels like a totally different game now. Great video and keep up the great work man!

When you test the speed with the Netgear app it tests it from the router. So the speed tests you did shows what your router is getting, not your phone. You need to use a separate app like speedtest to test the speed you get on your phone

I just got this router and for some reason it absolutely sucks. My ethernet connection went from 925/42 to 120/40 even after factory reset and QOS settings off, geo filtering off, and many other settings turned off. It also caps my managed switch and ALL of its connected devices at the same time with no way (at least that I see) of disabling this. Working on trying to fix it before I return it, but it's not looking good. I've heard that people also have issues with the XR500 so I think dumaOS itself may be the culprit. Next thing I'm going to do is connect the switch directly to the modem and seeing if the issue could be modem based, although I highly doubt it is. If I can't connect my switch to this router there's no reason for me to use it, as the router will just be an access point for my house and geo filtering won't be useful for those devices.

Paying monthly is due to your Internet Provider like Spectrum, Verizon Fios, AT&T, etc. It's standard and required to pay monthly otherwise there no internet. Your router gives you the ability to get WiFi and some offer more and better features then others that are specific like Gaming. There no way to get Free Internet. I'm not sure what smart lights you have, but why don't you connect them to a hub? I have 18 smart lights but all connected to a hub that does all the work. My router only shows the hub instead of all 18 lights. Let the hub do the work for you so that way you only have about 9 devices on your router.

The problem is the PS4 has a cap on how much speed it can use and take. On top of that, the speed test from the consoles isn't the most reliable and fluctuates a lot

The only thing new that just recently came out is the Netduma R2 Gaming Router and that I am currently reviewing right now. Similar in specs but the XR300 has better hardware and the R2 has better software. There will be a New XR Router announced soon
