What goes around comes around Jeff. Nevermore’s This Godless Endeavor has always been a profound influence to me. You created music that will be looked back on with the same reverence as these classics🤘

Pretty damn good list. As a guitarist about the same age as Loomis, the albums he mentioned are some of my favorite, aside from the Queen one. In particular, The Van Halen and Malmsteen ones he mentioned are also in my top five list of all time. And Piece of Mind is also my favorite Maiden album.

Something Jeff and I have in common, well besides the long blonde hair and being a metal guitarist, my first introduction to metal was also Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind album. Having been raised by my grandparents who were born in the 1930s my music sphere was limited to music that was popular in the 50s and old school country music. I saw a kid with an Iron Maiden shirt in elementary school but I didn't know what it was, I just know I liked the shirt. It wasn't until the 7th grade when another kid brought his walkman in to school that I was able to hear what would become the start of a life long love for the metal genre.

Cool video... I own 3 of those vinyls, and would love to pick up the Yngwie album too... I like Queen, some of their stuff, but I'd put a Ratt, Dokken or Motley Crue album in there instead!!

At the age of 9 my uncle picked me up for a drive in his car. He said, here is something you have to hear, he puts on News of the world.. When the guitar comes in at the end of we will rock you, was the first time electric guitar 🎸 hit me. After that he put on AC/DC live Donington, as it came out in 1992. He turned up Thunderstruck and Back in black crazy loud. I was sitting there with goosebumps and big smile on my face. I guess he noticed what had happened to me. When we came back home, he gave me the two records as a gift. I will never forget that day. My uncle died at the age of 50. Cancer. Rest in peace

Rising Force! I found it -ironic- ( _edit: tastefully coincidental_ ) that Jeff's own neo-classical composition ("Heir to the Tone") was playing in the background while he was introducing his memory of that album. 3:30
@remnant243 жыл бұрын
That is not remotely ironic.
@brianbergmusic52883 жыл бұрын
@@remnant24 You are right. I think the correct term is: 'coincidental'. Perhaps a more suitable edit would be: " _tastefully coincidental_ ...". Thanks for catching that.

Fuck. I wouldn’t even know how to pick four albums. But my all time favorite is Far Beyond Driven by Pantera. I was somewhat into metal already, but nothing at that level! Pantera changed my life musically forever. I was into Ozzy, AC/DC, Kiss, and Motley Crue. All music my mother grew me up with. I found Metallica by accident. They were my training wheels into super heavy stuff. I got into death metal almost immediately after hearing Pantera. Back then, the most reliable way to find super heavy stuff (especially stuff that wasn’t exactly commercial) was to trade mix tapes from people traveling. I ran into all kinds of cool stuff. But nothing has ever impacted me the way Pantera and Black Sabbath did. That being said. There is not a musician alive right now that gets me as excited as Loomis does.
