You can use Canva elements. If you use premade templates as a starting off point you need to make sure it looks SIGNIFICANTLY different from the original template. I always start fresh for this reason, but you don't need to if you're going to modify it heavily.

I know I'm not her, but I think I can help with that. When making a template in Canva for free, you will want to make sure that you use nothing but FREE images, elements, fonts, etc....everything free. And I'm not sure if you can sell as a template or you have to sell it as a PDF, but I do know that it has to be free everything. I hope that kind of helps a little.

@@AlissaRose Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure on how it would apply to Etsy products but it's a topic I think a lot about in marketing and other content creation. For example, a blog post about email funnels is much more evergreen than a blog post about Instagram reels hacks. IG reels are really popular at the moment, but email strategy is going to stay relevant for longer. I guess an example of how that might apply to Etsy would be an e-book on business strategy vs an e-book on 2021 template design trends. I'm just wondering if the "evergreen" idea can apply to templates and design as the nature of aesthetic trends is that they're always changing. **sorry for the super long comment!**

@@thesensiblefay Ah okay. I get what you're saying. I think most digital products sold on Etsy are "evergreen", but I see what you mean about the design trends. But just like you need to update your evergreen course every 1-2 years to make things better or update information, you will sometimes have to update your digital products you sell on Etsy. The good news is, you'll never have to start completely from scratch, unless what you created really was based on a trend. But printables, templates, ebooks, etc I think (for the most part) are evergreen.

You need to modify the templates SIGNIFICANTLY if you’re going to use them as a starting point.
