I love the sound of your truck. Its just a badass. I'm a thirty five years O.T.R truck driver. I use nothing but Caterpillar filters and not one time have I had any issues with them. In my own opinion they are the best filters on the market. Know I had to clean my windshield from taken a drink of my coffee. Because when the wife blew those train horns and scared you I started to laugh and coffee went every where! 🤣

I purchased a Fass 165 for my LMM, I had a pre installed hole in my u bracket to my bed about 2.5 inches from my bolt bracket to my bed. I purchased a hard rubber motor mount about 2 inch diameter, cutting about 1/8 slice out of it. And using it as a spacer for the difference of the gap. Using a 1.5 inch 3/8 bolt to put in the Second hole. Needless to say, now I have two bolts holding my lift pump in place to hold the weight of my pump.

Just make sure you use the FASS square cut oring. The Cats are amazing but could lead to problems if you use a round oring

So I am running a FASS lift pump with the factory filter head and filter still in place on my LLY. I will be coming up on my first filter change, with the lift pump, thank you for the info, will be switching to the cat kit you featured. My question is, could I replace the filters, then open the factory bleed screw then turn on the lift pump and when I get fuel at that location tighten the screw to bleed the air that way?

Hey can anyone answer if korey Willis tunes disable the egr on the lbz. I know emission on tuning are getting stricter daily it seems. I just done a 4” down pipe back exhaust and threw a p0401 code for the egr. I just want it turned off and eventually will do the plumbing. So does his work or can someone tell me who to use. I just need a dsp5 switch with the max tube being 150 for a stock trans.

During winter in MN my fass filters would have ice all around them, have you used the fass filter housing heater kit? Might be a good review this winter:-) I gelled up because of it a few times

I have the heat probe in mine, I wouldn't spend that $200 again as it just doesn't generate enough heat to be useful. I just shut the FASS off until the truck is warmed up to stop it from plugging the water separator. Putting diapers on the filters is the cheapest option I found to add some easy insulation. For me its on my semi so giving it a hour to warm up once a week is no big deal, if its on your daily thats obviously not practical so running straight number 1 is the only fool proof option. Long before the diesel gells the parafin wax crystalizes in #2, no matter how much anti gell you put in around the -30 mark you will end up with plugged filters from it. Its far easier to get the diesel to stay liquid then it is to keep the wax in suspension.

If your getting diesel at a typical gas station or chain truck stop then the fuel is treated and blended as needed, problem is its treated for the upcoming weather. If it takes you a few weeks to burn through it the weather can easily change enough here in MN to mean it is no longer treated or blended adequately. Keep a close eye on that weather if you dont want to run straight #1 and make sure to add #1 if the temp is going to drop significantly. Personally in my pickup its straight #1 all winter, its not worth screwing with to save a buck.

just bought these filters and attempted the install on my Fass 95gph titanium series pump, and no matter what i did i could not get the left hand filter to seal properly. no matter how tight it was when i turned the key on it leaked fuel as if it was spun half way off, tried swapping filters from side to side and that didnt help either, still leaked like crazy on the left hand side. reinstalled fass filter and it stopped. anyone else have this issue?

I'm looking to get some traction bars but I do plan to build my truck as a part time offroad recovery rig, did they affect the ride quality at all? Traction bars didnt change the ride on my truck at all. But something to consider when off roading with them is the clearance issue, possibly bending the bars. I would definitely go with a good thick wall .250" set, dont cheap out and get the cheap ones because they will bend a lot easier if you was to roll over something on them.

Donaldson makes Cat filters .Cat filters are built to a higher grade less dirt introduced in manufacturing .Cat is super strict on what they allow in the manufacturing process.

By the way, the original FASS filters were installed incorrectly, swapped. Look at the diagram on each filter as they come off and notice that the one she took off from the tube (output) side, (lablled FF-3001 ) has the picture indiciationg it's the one for the Inlet suction side. the XWS that was taken off first, goes on the left side with the tube. Clearly the fuel inlet hose is coming in from the rear tire side and you can clearly easily see that the XWS-3001 is on the inlet suction side and thus, the 2 micron filter was straining the pump to pull through and hte 166 micron filter misplaced on hte pump side did absolutely nothing it;s entier life. We all make mistakes but do remember to be careful who and what you follow. I do mainatin as in my previous post, wifey did an awesome job replacing the filters in every way.

Cat filters are made at the same plant as Baldwin that's why cat and deer say you can use them. Great video

Actually, both the Baldwin and CAT filters are made by APCI or something like that,, if you search for Caterpillars own video about their filters, the show the factory production, the company name and tell you who makes them. Of Course the CAT and Baldwins are the same in the cases I know.

I installed a FASS three years ago along with the in-house heater probe due to some travels in low temperature weather. That along with winter additives have kept me from ever gelling. Switched to CAT filters after the first swap as they were better filtration at the time. I didn't hear you say an interval time, but I change mine out every 20K miles. Only problem I ever had was the ground wire had come loose and wouldn't allow the pump to operate. Always check the ground first if the FASS pump ever fails to engage.

I installed the new style Fass and did the Cat fuel filter conversion from sinister under the hood. BEWARE!!!! started blowing ECM fuses, after about 3 fuses over 150 miles, it stopped. I carry extras just incase but its been about 6months now. I did it when I installed a set of new bosch injectors and all new lines, tank sump, etc. I didn't want anything clogging the new injectors.

@@TruckMaster assuming you have the gray model and not the newer black. When you upgrade to the newer style filter, which I see the newer xws-3002, it is now placed on the pressure side and not the suction side. Believe it says it on their website. Plus the diagram is printed on the filter

@@dallyup34 if you are using the newer style filters, xws-3002 and pf-3001. The pf-3001 goes on the suction side and the xws-3002 goes on the pressure side. Theres a diagram on the filter to help you and FASS mentions it on their website should you question it. Do not hook up FASS filters like he had them. He has them backwards. Think about it, what good is a 2 micron filter/water separator before a 100 micron particulate filter? Sorry to say but he clearly has the FASS filters hooked up backwards in this video.

A lift pump places the fuel under pressure to the high pressure pump instead of a vacuum. Having the high pressure pump pull the fuel under vacuum all the way to the engine can introduce air in the fuel which can cause damage to the high pressure pump and injectors. Having the fuel under pressure will improve throttle response and potentially fuel mileage.
