Eugene had to cut Rapunzel's hair before she healed him because he knew that the promise she made to Gothel would bind her to a fate worse than death (since she never breaks promises). So he sacrificed himself to prevent her from having to keep that promise. As Eugene says "If you do this, you will die!".

well if he let her heal him and thn cut her hair it wouldnt be her breaking the promise since there is no more bargoning chip for the promise to be based on. but that wouldve been selfish. he gets to heal but then doesnt let anyone else after him (that would have been the strategic play tho). instead he makes the noble sacrifice and denies anyone, including himself, the healing magic. i still think it wasnt the smartest move but he literally just got stabbed and was probably not thinking straight

One of my favorite things about this movie is that magic tears are what heal Eugene because in the original story, the prince is blinded by thorn bushes (some versions have the witch controlling them, some versions have him jump out of the tower into the thorn bushes below because Rapunzel is gone and he thinks he'll never see her again) but he finds Rapunzel again and her tears heal his eyes Also the hair doesn't directly heal. It reverses time. One of the lyrics from the song is "make the clock reverse". It can reverse time to impact human's physical bodies. It reversed the cut on Eugene's hand to how it was before the cut was there, the same thing happened with the stab wound, and it made Gothel younger

That is interesting! As far as magical powers go, time reverse is far more interesting than just plain healing. It invalidates any arguments I can come up with off the top of my head as to a healing power not being able to bring someone back from the dead or reversing aging. But it also has way more implications that make things a little odd. Like if it does reverse time on individuals, then why doesn’t it erase memories gained over that time?(since we know the magic effects gothel’s whole person every time, maybe she could have had her memory reset to the last time she used the flower, wich I based on the movie doesn’t happen because she wouldn’t be getting increasingly upset every time rep asks to leave, she wouldn’t have remembered the last time) (To pseudo-answer my own question, as you brought up, the song states to ‘bring back what once was mine.’ Wich might imply that the time-reverse effect is solely regenerative and never destructive, only able to bring back what was lost and not able to remove what was gained.

I have to say tho this still somewhat brings up more questions than answers. (Haven’t watched the series so if this is explained there plz tell me to go watch it.) I think it’s a fairy sound assumption that the sundrops magic does exactly as the incantation asks it to. Gothel came up with the incantation to reverse aging, the ultimate end to wich is death, so it makes sense that her incantation could reverse death, especially since undoing it killed her. But all we see in the movie is gothel’s incantation, one she had time to hone over hundreds of years. Doesn’t that mean there must be other possible incantations(other than the cannon ones in other languages)? I think I can accept at this level of fantasy that the sundrop’s only power is time-reverse healing, but it makes way more sense that that was simply the incantation gothel honed because it suited her.

I suggest The Princess and the Frog. It has a lot of things in common with Tangled. The Princess and the Frog is the last Disney princess movie done in 2D, and Tangled was the first done in 3D, coming out shortly afterwards. Both concentrate on old fairy tales, but Princess and the Frog is set in New Orleans in the 1910s-1920s.

Well, when you think about it, Disney always had that darker stuff in them. I mean, in Snow White, you can see a full skeleton and the Evil Queen fall to her death, being crushed by the rock she tried to kill the dwarfs with, and implied being eaten by the birds who followed her. And don't forget the "they will burried her alive" thing. Disney villains had a pretty rough death for a long time, like Ursula being impaled, Clayton being hanged in the jungle, Scar being eaten alive by the hyenas, Maleficient being stabed to the heart... That's why Tangled was so faithfull to the spirit of the movies, while the newest ones and the remakes are not. They lost that magic, that tragedy, that lovely romance and so on. Hope they can wake up before the bankrout.

So, there is a whole show. Starts with a special, goes for three seasons. There is also the wedding special which was made before the show but is set after. The show goes deeper into all the character's background (even Gothel's. even though she is dead), gives us a lot of lore about the sundrop and is also jst generally fun to watch. I can only recommend it.

Stars Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi did an impressive job voicing the lead characters. And the songs? @@hunterlawrence3573 I was in the opposite situation. I had multiple remotes (as extras in case the one I usually use broke), but no one to play with. The game creators really should have put more thought into the single player aspect. I also had a difficult time with level 2. The dog was a problem, but there was also a place on the left I couldn’t get to, no matter how much I jumped, and it turned out you had to cut a nearby tree to make a bridge. Since Rapunzel was the main character of the movie, she was the one I usually controlled, but she had a frying pan. It was Flynn/Eugene who had the sword (the only thing that could cut trees as well as permanently make a guard leave, as Rapunzel’s frying pan only stunned them)

First is the sequel movie (and start/pilot to the series) "Tangled Before Ever After" and then after watching that you can watch the series "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure", then there's a final movie after the entire series in over which is "Tangled Ever After" ! I recommend you watch the 2D animated sequel series to this movie. Tangled: the Series and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures They are highly underrated and the songs are amazing. They are a direct sequel storywise and explains more about Gothel and Rapunzel's powers and magical lore. ❤
