This drill is extra hard on Olhausen 8 foot pool table . The angle of the rail cut and the Deep shelf means you have to hit it in the pocket and not touch the rail on the way in. Great practice though. Tried it for a couple of hours and the best I got to was 9. You're right it does simulate match play with the added pressure as you get closer. Excellent drill that has improved my shooting considerably. That was always a shot I dreaded. You are a fabulous teacher.

I had a great time trying this one. At first, I'd miss my first shot many times but occasionally get to 3 or 4, or maybe 5 once in a while. In one amazing run tonight I got 17! Correction shots to get back in position were the key for me. I'll be working on this one lots. Thanks Niels!

Yet another good one! Your drills have gotten me more comfortable with a lot of shots! Question Niels: Any chance we'll get videos on more creative and game oriented subjects? One pocket and 8 ball come to mind. I know it's all 9 and 10 these days, but something different, focused on finding creative solutions and developing pool IQ and table knowledge would be really fun to dive into. There are VERY few instructional video resources regarding some topics like these, and you explain/demonstrate so well...I don't want to have to keep learning shot choice and nuances from that one pocket specialist at my local pool hall that keeps beating me. lol.

@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen OH YES! Your safety drill and kick shot videos have come in handy. I regularly practice the prison drill. I’m well aware of these videos and that they can be used in many areas- still though, the primary request here is to have more resources regarding the creative problem solving side of the game. There are so many instructional videos on lots of other areas of the game, but not nearly as many regarding specific elements of tactical play in games where options are much more plentiful. How much of the object ball do you typically need to contact for these rail shots (where the object ball isn’t touching the rail)? Somehow, I almost always tend to over cut these! Even when I try to hit the ball more full… it’s driving me crazy lol

I think a great tip for a lot of players is, sometimes when you miss position it’s because you didn’t make the object “clean” in the pocket. The slightest miss hit can throw your Q ball position off a lot.

there is another solution. from the logic that every non needed movement is bad, you could try this. place the cue on your line. and make 1 or 2 strokes to check that cue is on line(can skip that later) and then only draw the cue a cm or 2. and fire from there. its very hard to get of line with such a short draw and and it just fine with rolling shots. very good on long rolling shots. docent take long then can do stun shots as well.

This is a great drill and it isnt as easy as you make it look. Jeeze it is tough.lol 10 in a row,,lmao =for Pro players on a good day 5 in a row =for AA and Maybe A players ( prolly not) 3 in a row= for BB and B players(if they are lucky) Just make the ball= C players. LMAO But this will get you in stroke . This type shot comes up allot, great way to practice!! If you dont agree with my numbers you have not tried this.

If you get in a groove you will get better. Beginning is tough for sure! Hang in there!

@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen For me the ball keeps moving down table after each shot and it is tough to get it back by the side pocket. At some point it is impossible, and it is over. Surprised that I make the shot almost every time .
