It may also be the polish batches. I pretty much only use Sinful Colors polish because it is so cheap. My bottle of black is a one coater, as is pretty much all of my sinful colors cream polishes. The only time I need at least two or three coats is when the polish itself is sheer.

Same! I love the sinful colours polish, they have some really cool colours for super cheap. I've never had a problem with any of them before, especially the black. Mines no where near as thin as hers.

It probably is either the base coat or the batch. I have way too many nail polishes and Sinful Colors has yet to fail me.

I completely agree!!!! Sinful colors black nail polish is super opaque, sometimes the only time I do a second coat is either, because I missed some spots, or just to super seal it until I can put a final clear coat. I love this cheap nail polish, it really is just as good as the more expensive ones. Girls ask me all the time what black polish I use. LOL. I'm not saying better doesn't exist, but for the price and payoff, it's an awesome deal💖💅

I feel like it could also be partly due to the peel-off base coat. I've found that a lot of the big brand polishes don't do very well with unusual base coats; often leading to a watercolor-like spreading. This is just a theory though.

I found this AMAZING black nail polish by a brand called Prim+Proper! The black is called "Black Rod", and it applies full coverage in 1 coat! I almost always want to paint my nails black because of how beautiful it is >_

I actually got the OPI black onyx polish here in ye old times of corona (2020) and it looks like they changed their formula because it went on in one coat and it was a really good black polish in my opinion. (don't worry I put a holo taco on top)

Lee Sellers yeah! They have this matte black with is soooooooo good. Apply a very thin coat, and it’s so saturated and pigmented, you only need a single coat. If you don’t want a matte finish, just add a shiny top coat

I also just discovered Broadway's one coat wonder Black Out! Broadway makes a chunky holo glitter in a black jelly base called Gunmetal. I used those and topped it off with Revlon Holographic Pearls! It's holo-gasmic.

Sometimes you have to let the polish sit for a little bit and thicken up so it can be at full opacity. It's like that for most of my Sinful Colors polishes

It was almost the same as the one she used in this video, even called Black Out, but it's number 629. Works perfectly, not sheer at all. Not sure if it's a batch thing or if they improved it a lot over the last 5 years but I'm happy.

I was supersized by how it turned out in this video (did she get a random bad batch?) because SC always paints on perfectly in 1-2 coats (I've never had to use more than one for their black) and their base coat and quick dry coats are like magic! The only problem I've ever had with SC is that their glitter polish shrinks once it dries which leaves a super thin bit at the tip of the nail exposed.

+Kassie May it's great for an under coat for glitter polish but not great for nail art, it gets re-softened every time you apply a layer of nail polish over it. Even if you let it dry overnight beforehand. So I have had multiple times where I dug divots in the stuff trying to place glitters.

more likely than not it's because her nails are more yellow than most normal people's, so it's more obvious on her nails if the Polish is sheer. on most clear nailed normal people it might be fine even if it doesn't work on cristine

I don't know about other countries, but in Georgia (USA) there is a store called Five Below. It sells cheap nail polish, and the white and black polishes they sell are my staple white and black. They are called (white) "Gesso" and (black) "Dark Night". They are all opaque in one coat and the dry super fast!

agree totally. the essie black is COMPLETELY and mind-blowingly opaque for me with one coat. i've never needed a second coat, and i just tried it again to be sure. she may not be using enough on the brush either. i submerge mine completely and then wipe off only one side before using it. it's perfect every time

i like to use sally hanson’s “black heart” because even though it’s sally hanson so you would think it’s sheer it’s actually a pretty good black and is opaque with one coat. it also has a nice brush size :3
