I nearly want to cry, I've been trying to do the curly girl method for years, but nothing works. My scalp is greasy, and I have fine thin hair, I never use heat, I just let it air dry, and I use the products I see people reccomend, but nothing has worked. After one night of sleeping my hair is greasy and all my curls are gone. But seeing that you have similar hair as mine makes me think I can finally find something that works for once. Thank you so much!

You’re not alone! I was in the same boat for so so long and followed the CGM for YEARS and it just wouldn’t click. I have fine hair and an oily scalp too. Within the past year, my curls have finally started looking good and liking products. All my wavy curl knowledge is from Courtney so I highly recommend checking out all her content because it’s been life changing, especially her swing curl clumping videos. What helped me was just taking a break from all the CGM craziness. I just washed and conditioned and let it be. I chopped my hair off and started highlighting a bit and strangely enough, that’s when my curls flourish the best. It just goes to show that what works for one person won’t always work for others. So don’t get discouraged, just relax, work on the health of your hair, and let your hair figure itself out❤️

Drugstore haircare has seriously improved over the years and I'm glad they're getting so much less hate now! Unfortunately many hairstylists and brand sponsors will promote the higher end haircare brands, even if they don't *love* said brand's products. I'd love for you to do a drugstore bond repair showdown, I hear many of those are great dupes for higher ends. As someone who pinches pennies like crazy I'm quite hesitant to buy higher end.

I was super hesitant to use Pantene because of everything I have heard about all that silicone building up on the hair but I gave it a shot with their miracle rescue mask and I am BLOWN AWAY!!! my hair is still super soft and pretty much tangle free on day 6!!! I wear my hair up in a messy bun and sleep in it every night. By the next wash day (usually day 7) it's a complete rats nest and takes a lot to detangle it. I will definitely keep this in rotation! Thank u for changing my mind!

I have been using the Aussie instant freeze for over 15 years on and off. I remember there was a time where it used to say it had "cherry bark extract" as a key ingredient. I don't remember there being any aloe in it at the time (at least in the Canadian version). I have always loved it despite the reformulations and repackaging.

I have hair similar to yours, and was honestly surprised you liked the Camille Rose Curl Maker so much. I'm not knocking it--it seems like it would be a good product for hair that is less fine and more porous than mine. It has a lot of oils in it, which weighed my hair down. My hair also felt dirty a lot faster than normal, maybe because the product remains slightly sticky. I do quite like the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, though. I have to put something else on top of it, but it's a great "base layer." Thanks for mentioning a few good (hard) gels and mousses! I need to find some new ones.

This is very useful - thank you. I'm just starting out but I can say that I have had the best luck with NYM Curl Talk Gel and the Strictly Curls Foam, used in combination - like you said, with gel first and the foam after. I have medium and fine hair (depends on where on my head) with medium density - midway down my back. Used together I get a reasonably solid cast and not too much frizz. We'll see what I think after a few more washes.

I'm not exactly a total novice at this, but still barely educated. I bought a trial set of the Not Your Mother's gel, mouse and curl cream. I had some great hair days (and some not so great) but when I was running out I thought I should try some other products, you know, education. And other things didn't work so great. I'm watching this shortly after returning from the store with the full size gel and mousse. And I wish I'd seen this first because there's a couple things I might have tried instead. But at least I know that what I did get should work relatively well. Thanks for a very helpful video.

Oh Courtney. Now I will need an even bigger box to store my products! Either that or "downsize" my husbands bathroom cupboard contents 😂. I too prefer Marc Anthony vs the Not your Mothers foam. Is there a drug store protein rich shampoo or conditioner you like? Off to Ulta and Walmart...
@amyschultz71039 ай бұрын
I like the not your mother’s conditioner 3 in 1 that can be used as a co-wash, or a washout or a leave in. But not that shampoo for the line. Pacifica has a shampoo that is pineapple scented but I don’t really care for the smell, but it does have protein in it I believe I know the conditioner of that line does

Awwwww man, I was debating between the Marc Anthony and the NYM mousse and bought the latter to go with my Aussie Instant Freeze Gel. Based on this review, I should have definitely gone for the Marc Anthony mousse. Dangit! Fine, low-porosity hair that's also *dense* has been so difficult to figure out! I bought the Shea Moisture shampoo you mentioned in this video as per your recommendation because I get those nasty bumps on my head sometimes. But I figured out that the cause of bumps was from using shampoos that weren’t right for my scalp. I still haven’t tried it yet but my teen son has and he said it was nice and it calmed his itchy scalp. I wanted to know if you think this shampoo is strong enough to remove a pre shampoo oil on my lengths. This way I can protect my lengths from getting too dry when washing. What do you think?

My concern and question is that the shea moisture manuka honey protein mask says it has some beeswax in the ingredients. I was worried about the wax. Can you tell me your thoughts on the beeswax?
@SwavyCurlyCourtney9 ай бұрын
I don’t tend to worry about beeswax when the product contains a decent amount of emulsifiers. Beeswax can act as a stabilizer in certain products, and that’s a good thing. that being said it does offer potential build up issues for people with incredibly fine low porosity hair. If your hair is medium to course, it’s not an issue. I hope that makes sense!
