All of my drying towels are from the Rag Company. I have the Dry Me a River, the Twistress and Gauntlet drying towels. my favorite is the Gauntlet, but based on your find I may have to get a few Liquid8tors!

I’ve tried most of these and for me the gauntlet is my favorite. Second would be the liquidator. I prefer a more plush towel since I’m doing mostly rinseless and the checker board pattern of the gauntlet causes the least amount of streaking. The liquidator is sweet though

I have a couple Chemical Guys "Woolly Mammoths" (~$27) that are really good, and one super-cheap Grant's from Harbor Freight that I bought on a whim (~$7). But then I decided to go totally overboard & bought a DI unit so I can do spot-free rinses at home. So far it works really well. I am preparing for "winter washing." I want to be able to give my Lucid a quick wash & rinse when the weather is less than perfect.

Thanks for the review Coleton. I have been looking to replace my drying towels and picked up the Liquid8r after watching the video. It's quite amazing. It does a better job than the 2 drying towels I was using previously.

I also find that the Liquidator leaves less lint, especially on glass, than the super plush and soft towels that don't have a twist weave.

Great review thank you. Needed something to dry a VW IDBuzz so basically a van. The Rag Company Liquid8r looks perfect. £30 over here in rip-off U.K. but still worth it if it lasts a few years.

Coleton, two things I think you should consider. One, start a system for vetting detail shops around the country for everyone that doesn’t live within 24 hours from you. Second, maybe consider doing a multiparty series detailing some of the procedures and products that bring you the best results. You do a great job on the vehicles as well as describing your findings of finish issues.

Do you just throw these towel's into the washing machine as with any bath towels or clothing or is there a special process or setting for cleaning them? Or do you even wash them at all?

I switched from the Liquid8R to the Gauntlet because after a several uses, the Liquid8R starts tearing itself as the towel catches onto emblems. I reached out to Rags Company and was told that this is normal wear. The Gauntlet does not have that issue for sure.

Use it if you want to scratch your car. It picks up water and doesn’t pick anything else up which means it scratches your car. I used it before prior detailing and found out the hard way how bad it is for the paint.

I think that there should be a big caveat with the value for money aspect....you are judging these based on a professional detailers POV.....you would need to order a lot of drying towels.....if I'm washing one maybe two vehicles over the course of a weekend so once a week per car.....thats really only one or two towels and a whole week to launder and care for the towel..... for me personally I have a small crossover and only wash once a week at most and $40 towel that performs awesome would be cost affective..... if it's quality and will last longer I'm getting my moneys worth.... but yes, as a pro detailer its not money well spent. anyway, great content guys! & Max the Polestar 2 is still looking sharp!

Is there an advantage to using a dryer towel over something like say a synthetic chamois? I've used the Absorber for the last 15 years.
@matsudakodo
@matsudakodo 10 ай бұрын
Time and effort. You'll never have to stop and wring it out again. Doing that 10 times per wash sucks.
@holelee7834
@holelee7834 7 ай бұрын
For me, the advantage is when I let go of the traditional methods, got detail lights, and realized that those chamois real and synthetic that stick (the smoother the surface, the more it sticks; opposite with drying towels) to the car while dying are actually scratching the paint. These drying towels unlike chamois (they don't wring, take a whole day to air dry and need to hold a lot of water to be useful), BUT they glide over the surface (of properly maintained paint) while drying and should slide off the car like the ole terry after a polish and wax (or using chemical drying aids, spray ons, etc). THAT is the difference; they're not scratching or rubbing the paint while drying. So now my absorbers are basically only used on glass and plastic trim now. Prior to changing all wash methods and mentality though I looked at this stuff funny... why would I ever use a towel that can't be wrung 🤔 Next time you pull the absorber across your wet hood and it's really sticking to or rolling up on the panel with any pressure, think about what's going on there. If you're blotting with it it's much better, but slower and that's how these towels are faster

I absolutely agree with your findings. I’ve done some towel testing and also ended up with the liquid8r being my favourite by far. I actually use the medium sized version of it though. It is double sided so it is slightly thicker and still holds a tone of water for being a medium sized towel.
