The 4 dots on the steering wheel is morse code for the letter "H" (for Hyundai). Just reserved an inbound Limited AWD and been watching a lot of videos on the Ioniq and truly appreciated your approach and more in-depth look at the mechanical aspects.

I got my Ioniq 5 two months ago. It beats the ID4 or Mach-E simply because its charge speed is so much faster. Makes a huge difference on a journey with multiple charge stops..
@Laviolette101
@Laviolette101 2 жыл бұрын
Fast charging has been shown to dramatically reduce the life of the battery. It is recommended to use slow or medium charging since rapid charging generates too much damaging heat for repeated sustained fast charging.
@garethkreike3263
@garethkreike3263 2 жыл бұрын
@@Laviolette101 No one is suggesting using rapid charging all the time, but on a long journey that requires multiple stops, very rapid charging (up to 225kWh), of which the Ioniq 5 is capable, is the only way to make such a trip sensible. Trying to do a 500 mile trip with a car capable of accepting only 50kWh is painful and clogs up the charging network. It is like waiting for an ICE vehicle filling up at a petrol station with a straw sized hose.

@@Mr.Helper. 10% to 80% in 18 minutes and independently proven. On journeys I have normally charged from 40/50% to 80% in the to visit the bathroom and grab a coffee. 100 miles added in 10 minutes.
@Neojhun
@Neojhun 2 жыл бұрын
@@Laviolette101 That is a logically broken argument. FYI each 20min charge gives you like 230 miles. There is only soo much distance people are willing to drive in one day. You can not just magically repeatedly charge, you need to drain the battery first. For a private personal car there is no practical way to repeatedly fast charge on Public roads. The only way that is possible is illegal street racing or race track driving. Soo stop with the falsehoods.

This is my current favorite electric car. I think they overall nailed the design interior and exterior. I think it will age well. Looks futuristic, but not overstated. Somehow still fits in with normal cars. I could be wrong, friends disagree, but overall I approve of the styling. I also think it's a great overall package. Like a jumbo hot hatch with good room. I would never go for the white interior though. Death sentence for my cars. I also feel they did a good job integrating the screens in the dash and leaving an airy interior. I like physical controls, but this seems usable. The biggest complaints I have heard are about charging issues. The price isn't horrible either, but obviously still not low enough for everyone to consider. Fun video, Sarah!

Oddly enough, I just came back from a test drive with an Ioniq 5. Though only the RWD top trim. Fun to drive, could get the rear to step out a bit on loose ground even with ESP on. This cars (and EV6) 800VDC battery architecture have phenomenal charging curves in my experience. I completely agree with you on the reservoirs all being so close together, someone's going to mess that one up 😅. Also noteworthy on you mechanic score of 3.4 wrenches as long as the individual is completely aware this high voltage DC battery will kill you instantly upon any miss understanding 😲.

We own a 2015 Nissan Leaf EV.The ONLY maintenance we have ever done is seasonal tire swaps, Add windshield washer fluid,Car washes,Wiper blades. EV's have 1/3 the parts of ICE

@@MHdollrevievs completely agree, I own a 2015 Nissan Leaf as well (love this car). It is relative when we all say "maintenance" so I'll elaborate further by saying ANYTHING to do with the traction battery (i.e. high voltage DC) shouldn't be attempted lightly. I've changed my 24kwh pack out personally and I can truly say it's a delicate procedure. Many online don't use the proper personal safety equipment or procedures recommended by the manufacturer. This is something that could take sometimes life instantly.... P.S. hope your still part of the 12 bar club 😊👍 all the best to you!!!

you hit the nail on the head. With motors and battery pack as low in the car as they are, the car does not roll or pitch as much as an ICE with a much higher center of gravity.

It's a good thing you're smart and beautiful because I usually UN-subscribe when people constantly promote E cars. It's not opinion, it's science. They are useless by any definition of practicality. But, here I am commenting so, Sarah 1, Dennis 0.

I don't think they are a real solution if environmental consciousness is the main justification for them; But, as an enthusiast, they make neat sounds and can be fun as hell to drive. They remind me of a big RC car, so as a car nerd I dig them.

This is very tempting, would definitely rank higher for me than a Tesla. Because you can never really own a Tesla...I support Right To Repair and I'll vote with my wallet for mfgs that actually have tech data and a parts counter.

So you support Korean made proudly instead of U.S. made evs like the tesla model y which is by parts content the most American made ev on sale today. And tesla recently released the entire service manuals for model 3&y. 🤔

I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle and a outrageous expense in the long run. Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. Plus I regret all the lost hours at these charging stations. I wish I knew all this before I bought my car . Do your homework before buying !
