I’ve always wondered why on our property there’s like a 80 acre thicket and we get so many does in there late season but never see a buck, maybe a spike here and there. 99.9% does in late season the bucks seem to disappear after the rut there

Is there a certain size for a plot that you wouldn't go under? Like nothing less than 1/4 acre plots?

We do a lot of micro plots under the 1/4 acre size, sometimes as small as 1/10th of an acre. It is all very situational (if you want the plot as a staging area, a destination food attractant, transition plot from bedding to destination food, etc) Just really take into account your hunting strategy, the flow of the deer travel and how to best utilize the terrain to work in your favor with food and attraction as the end goal.
