But that is not head voice, and is in fact mixed voice and reverse mixed voice together with whistle register where the whistle squeak occurs - head voice starts around C6 and can only be used in coloratura staccatos above C6 and has a very harmonic sound without timbre that sounds more like a flute or keyboard sound!

@@FrozenMermaid666 yeah idk about all that, you might be right about it being mixed voice, but everything else definitely feels like a bit of a “insert music theory knowledge here” moment. And maybe you’re not wrong, I could imagine that rule applying to certain higher vocal types, but falsetto is definitely a register thing. Baritones generally have a range only up to C5 so if what you said were factual that would make it impossible for some of them to even achieve a falsetto register. I don’t even need to credit examples to know that’s been proven untrue, like a bunch lol

Just keep in mind that HE IS NOT using his head voice when screaming. I fully understand why he thinks so (because that´s where he start the process) BUT when he is screaming he actually has a thin MIXED VOICE underneath the scream, not head voice. You can´t scream like that with falsetto, it would end up sounding like James Brown or Prince (just a reinforced falsetto). I understand why he thinks and advises to start from head voice, that´s because you can put different weights on your mixed voice, specially on such high notes (D5). Going from falsetto means he stays with a THIN mixed voice wich makes the scream way easier and healthier. This is no different from Kurt Cobain´s screams on "Where Did you sleep last night" unplugged. He has little voice cracks/yodel (wich are HEAD VOICE), but the screaming parts "MY GIRL MY GIRL" are not head voice, it is a mix.

@@George_C-e4v mix is head voice lol we know from scientific research you cannot physically mix M1 and M2 laryngeal vibratory mechanisms. “mix voice” is a twangy head voice with forward placement, used to imitate some of the overtones of chest voice. You can't mix M1 and M2 lol. Its just mimicking a register via different functions of the voice m1 mix = Mimicking m2 while maintaining qualities of m1 m2 mix = mimicking m1 while maintaining qualities of m2

@@triplej8666 Nah I´m not having that bs sorry mate, I know there´s a famous youtuber spreading all of that bs but he is totally wrong. Mixed voice is not head voice, head voice is falsetto, it is thin and uses totally different things. Kurt cobain is not using head voice on About a girl, sorry. It is a pulled chest as I like to call it, wich people call "mix" because he places it higher than pure stomach/chest. And that needs to be freaking trained for 1 or 2 years every day

This is one of the most helpful tip anyone could ever give. From a voice teacher's perspective, I've noticed that "sloppy" head voice onsets really help eliminating a ton of unecessary tension. When you take away the "finished sound" obligation and go for a more casual approach, it just makes everything so much easier. This is a free video that could easily be from a paid course. You, sir, are awesome for releasing such awesome free content. Keep up the amazing work. Cheers from Brazil!

I was kinda confused to be honest. I can't add more air to the vocal fry, but finding the vocal break is more easier to me. So the scream we get in the vocal break is a fry scream? The sensations are still pretty different to me, I confess. When I approach the scream through the vocal break I feel it in my soft palate. But I'm still struggling to do the upper constriction movement without feeling a scrachiness afterwards. Are they different screams, aren't they?

The thing I struggle the most with is that I was trained to sing by my mother since I was an infant. She taught traditional music for 50+ years before retiring. I have 30+ years of ingrained training to avoid tension and distortion in my voice. I love a challenge but singing like the people in the music I love is SO challenging. I have an almost 2 year old son and he loves saying “Let’s Go!” when we get in the car or are headed to the car to go somewhere. Yelling that with him has become my way of practicing screams in short bursts to try to feel less awkward. He giggles and mimics me a little and that’s honestly the most rewarding feedback I could ask for. I just hope he doesn’t ever hurt himself by mimicking me too much. I don’t think he does and is just enjoying being loud. Anyway, just wanted to share my personal little story. Really loved the Lauren Babic course and will be signing for this one as well. Will always be supporting the things those two do. Thanks for creating this!

I have the same trouble accessing screams in the head register. What really saved me and gave a roadmap of where to move and find that screams are to use really carefully and quietly my inhale voice in head register. On inhales my voice so happens to be in the just right position to get nice screams, and for a lot of time I was confused whether this is legit or not, but now, when I'm starting to get the same sensations on the exhales and especially that fry sensation, I know that I'm on the right track. The thing now for me that I was using my head voice in the wrong position, that just couldn't allow for screams to come out. I literally have to unlearn the head voice singing position that I'm using right now, and that's tough, in order to get that nice screams. BTW, that new voice position that I'll use will potentially fix my voice fatiguing when using my head voice, because now I kinda have this problem. I think that some people have the same problem as I am, and belive me, I was trying to find my high screams like for THREE years of deliberate practice, while I could do screams really fat and meaty from the chest voice for a long time. But I just couldn't get move that scream power to the high register, I thought that It's just not for, that my voice just built differently, and turns out that I was using my head voice in the wrong position all along, it just blew my mind.

Awesome. Thanks. When experimenting I found that I kind of have to go to the headvoice. But I still can't add fry to it.

Great Video! Could you make a video with Andy, where you and him could give an analysis of Aerosmith's "Kiss your past goodbye" and explain how those high parts works with the voice? That would be great!
