Minecraft is not a game you "finish". Its a sandbox game for sandbox's sake. A place to make and explore. The goal, if any, is to satisfy your imagination.

Well, technically, the game does have an "ending" in Survival mode. But, to your point, you could consider the entire game up to that "end" to be one _very_ long tutorial for the actual game.

Now that the minecraft fans are here, I'll mention that my favorite mods that I won't play without are: - A tree chopper thing, where when you chop the bottom log, the rest of the tree falls down. - A minimap so I can set waypoints. - DistantHorizons so I can set the view distance low but still see far away landscapes. - Enchating helper so I can choose the enchants I want without randomly wasting xp. - A fps helper such as Optifine - GuardVillagers - charm of undying: A separate slot for the totem so you don't have to hold it in hand. Other mods I sometimes use are: - rotten flesh to leather - eggs become edible - backpack - mob health bar - creeper alarm - NPC companion that I can recruit to follow me around and guard my back - improved villages. lots of different kinds. - I still like Tektopia but they stopped updating it. - biomes variations but not too weird. Mods that I used to play but I got tired of - Industrial systems such as buildcraft, projectE, etc. So no I'm not interested in Create. - society builder such as MColonies, MComesAlive, etc. They were just too needy and not helpful.

With his hatred of spiders he definitely won't like heat scar spiders. For those not familiar they are huge spiders that spawn in the nether and when they die a couple smaller spiders spawn much like slimes.
