Thank you for giving Spanish Castle Magic the credit it deserves. People always talk about Helter Skelter as one of the pioneers of heavy metal but not Spanish Castle Magic.
@JTCurtisMusic Жыл бұрын
It really is a marvel of a song from 1967
@Logan9129 ай бұрын
I guess the difference is that “Spanish Castle Magic” still has a thick mid-60s psychedelic vibe whereas “Helter Skelter” is a straightforward hard rock tune.

I just love the Electric Ladyland version of Voodoo Child (Slight Return) One of the heaviest things I've ever heard. One gem that is always overlooked is Love Or Confusion from Are You Experienced. In my opinion, it is in the same class as Purple Haze and Spanish Castle Magic. The chord crashes during the final part of this are unbelievable! 😎🎸🎸

I was really trying to fit “Third Stone” into this playlist, but because of the time restrictions, I couldn’t fit it without sacrificing two or three songs. A real gem nonetheless!

Side 3 of Electric Ladyland is an epic masterpiece. From Rainy Day, Dream Away, back to Still Raining, it goes from a daydream to traveling through the solar system, back to the bus, still dreaming.

Machine Gun. I've probably heard it over 500 times over the years and I get still a chill down my spine when that leslie driven sustained first note of his solo happens. What we get after that is not just a guitar solo but, with only a couple of effects and Jimi's genius, a sonic portrait of war and all the chaos, pain and suffering that it brings. Not to mention his great and truthful lyric, "Evil man make me kill you, evil man make you kill me...even though we're only families apart." As we used to say back then, heavy, man.

Great video! 8:10 You can thank Chas Chandler, (Jimi's producer at the time) for Little Wing being such a short song. Chas wanted songs that would be played on the pop stations of the day and he got Jimi to cut down / alter his musical ideas to keep the song around 2 to 3 minutes long. Jimi probably wanted just about all his songs to be about 5 to 15 minutes long (if not longer) because he (Jimi) was so full of creativity and he wanted his music to keep going.

He also got pretty pissy about having to play songs like hay Joe which unbelievably was one of his only big hits that little fact always blows me away because like this video says he is the most important guitar player ever Its crazy when find out icon like hendrix never had a number are even any really big hits because he was so influential he was the one that inspired Eddie van Halen him and cream and is considered the top 5 of greatest guitar players if not the number one over 50 years ago still number one but no real big hits interesting stuff its like the remons and slayer those bands are the most influential bands of there genre easy and neither one had a platinum album same with hendrix yet he was one of the biggest stars of the 60s period great video 👍

While I love Jimi’s Little Wing, I definitely think the ultimate version is SRV’s. No lyrics, it’s all about the emotions from the instruments and of course Stevie’s incredible guitar playing and soloing. As for best track of Jimi’s, I’d have to say either Voodoo Child, Slight Return or Machine Gun.
