Taking damage while wearing the age of triumph crota armor caused the green glowing parts to break off and would grow back as your health regenerated. Insane detail.

Destiny 1 armor just fits better. Like, it seems the artists who made D1 armor understood the world and style better. Where as in D2, they have so many crazy ideas going in different directions. That’s not a bad thing, because it provides more variety for people, but it takes away destiny’s unique flavor.

In D1, all the armour looked like it fit together which created the ability to use almost any armour piece and it look good with another. Exceptions apply to raid armour and stuff because they're genuinely unique.

The age of triumph ornaments honestly may never be defeated in my opinion. D1s ornaments were meant to seriously spice up armor, and they created some of the craziest looks in destiny. I’ll never forget when I brought my friend who had previously only played D2 into D1. I put on the ornamented kings Fall warlock helmet and his IMMEDIATE reaction was “what exotic is that?” D2 armor is getting tiring at this point. Don’t get me wrong we still get some great armor but I think it’s time for a return to basics. Give us some nice, symmetrical and more importantly SIMPLE armors. D2 Armor nowdays is so cluttered with bits and bobs and it looks so overdesigned. Also Wrath Warlock gang ftw I love looking like an 8th grade geometry project :D

I know this isn't important but one of the biggest changes to the armor from d1 to d2 is that female guardians lost their boobs lol even the kings fall/vog armor that returned had boobies in d1 but in d2 it's just flat

I use the veritas chest, legs, and arms, with the vow of the disciple mark, and loreley splendor for my titan with the ensilvered snare shader, it looks really cool. But I can not for the life of me make a good looking warlock

I agree with most but I think we can all agree…..Destiny 1 armor was 1K times better than anything in D2. Any Iron Banner armor from D1 trumps D2 armor of any kind! (IMO). You nailed it when you said the armor better fit the aesthetics of what Destiny felt like to most of us. I miss that game. Those were the days

I have to disagree, most IB armor from d1 does outclass most armor from d2, I believe S3 and S4 Iron banner armor looked on par with IB armor from d1.

This is simply... beautiful. D1 armor felt much more like an armor, not a lot of round shapes, based around some enemies or destination, went as far as giving you VEX LEGS. It was just on another level. We need more of that sci-fi style that made actual sense.

I feel fantasy style fits Destiny very well. It's just that D2 armor and proportions always look a bit off compared to D1 models, especially the asymmetrical ones, even armor brought back from D1 looks more gameyfied in D2. So I don't know if those difference are only change in artistic choice and in-engine or a combination of those plus strange designs. There are some D2 sets that stand out but a majority of those are from the eververse or are vaulted content designs, I really loved the black armory sets for example . I think they need to overhaul the creation aspect of our characters as well and let us have more options to customization across the board. But that's a lot of work. I think there could be a lot of more neat armor sets in D2 as endgame rewards and for example RNG strike exclusive ornaments since we now have transmog. Now that they almost have back the development resources lost with the interrupted collaboration with Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios, I think we could see something like that in 1-2 years. Noted that many that designed D1 armor were contractors and still work with Bungie on some of the D2 sets, and many are in-house and are extremely talented, they have some of the best people in the Industry in art and design and could very likely replicate the success of AoT armor sets

I would definitely agree with you on the armor in destiny 1 having the upper hand for sure… not to mention the amazing benefit of adding glow which for some reason has not been brought into destiny 2. I do feel though there are a lot of armor sets in destiny 2 that live up to the quality dominating destiny one guardian appearance. I’d say that would be a cool video to see on the channel, destiny 2 armor sets and combinations that give that nice look and feel of destiny 1 style armor👍

I completely agree with you regarding d2 armor. I hate how 99% of hunter armor looks so I really only switch between the old gambit cowboy gear or the luxe set from the eververse. As far as d1 goes, you never caught me without the crota armor. Just beautiful imo

Same with kings fall. Both VOG&KF master modes could've brought back the AOT sets as like unlockable ornament sets for completing each encounter challenges. Totems give you headpiece. Warpriest chestpiece. Golgorath arms. Daughters:legs. Oryx challenge finally gives you the class ornament. Same could've been the same with vog.

I still play D1 because of how much cool armor there is to collect. D2 does not have that same gameplay loop. D2 has most of the good cosmetics behind eververse. D1 has so much unique gear that is themed around the enemies and fits better in the universe like you were saying. I love the phogoth gauntlets for the hunter. All the strike specific armor was amazing. I wish D2 just brought all that stuff over. Imagine if our D1 armor was in the collections tab so we could transmog it.

I remember watching a Taken fireteam pop into a crucible 6v6 game and it freaked me out watching three taken guardians just demolishing the enemy team. And now i have a wishlist for Taken armor sets if they ever return.

Surprisingly, I really like the Crucible Y3 set for Titans. You can match with the Palindrome. My favorite thing to do is put the ‘Changston De Geste’ shader on (Crucible Y2) and match with the Hawksaw. And I don’t even main Titan. Good times. Good video, November.

D1 armor sets fits cutscenes and the theme of the worlds especially comparing your character to vendors you just fit in the world armor. D2 armor just doesn't look right especially compare your character to the look of vendors it just doesn't look right like seeing a bright green glowing Titan or Hunter or the weird ugly look of Warlocks.

Most titan armor sets are way too bulky and the arms for warlocks dont matter for 99% of the time. They all look the same and dont determine your shoulders like how they did in destiny 1. I miss the D1 armor sets. The last cool raid set i can think of is from DSC.

The thing I love about Warlock in D1 is how every chest piece is an actual coat rather than a few strips of cloth like some sets in D2. I enjoy more grounded armor (hell, my style in FFXIV proves this. My Machinist legit wears the Noir long coat added in patch 6.2). I also miss the armor being themed around the enemy races. Root of Nightmares to me had some meh looking armor but thats only because of how flashy it is which isn't my style

Seeing cool armour actually meant something back in the day, you were someone that grinded hard to get all the pieces from the raid and the ornaments on top, easily weeks of work. Nowadays though in D2 you see some cool armour you don’t know if they got it from some random eververse or battle pass drop or weeks of grinding in a raid.

My favorite armor wasnt necesarrily a set, it was usually a combo of my favorite individual pieces. For me my 2 favorite pieces of armor hands down across all classes would be the first SRL events hunter helmet and cloak. The helmet made it so any normal cloak worn would have its hoodie part of the cloak removed, turns your cloaks into capes essentially. And the cloak was like everyones favorite vex cloaks from that one strike. There was a red blue and purple one for each element. This SRL one however was much more subtle and only came in blue. The cool thing with it was that no matter what helmet you wore, you would no longer have a hoodie part up on that helmet. These 2 pieces alone made my hunter dramatically stand out compared to ppl without either piece equipped. It just opened up tons of cool looking armor combinations. I love the look of a hunter with a helme and no cloak over the helm idk why. I was never super huge into the ornaments, they all got a little overboard. A bunch of guardians flying around without organs in their chest but instead a giant hole with a flame floating inside of it. I can have suspension of disbelief or whatever going on while i play the game. But when i start seeing 90% of players with a giant hole in their chest i start disconnecting from my immersion just a smidge. TLDR: Today in destiny 1 my armor is completely dictated by the perks and stat rolls. Im basically attempting for 100% god rolls with my favorite perks. Ive basically deleted anything that i only have because of its asthetics. The only exceptions to this rule are like max 3-4 pieces of armor for each class that ill wear if im 1v1ing someone and i need a handicap essentially. Something to tank my stats on purpose.

D2 needs to implement some special raid armor ornaments. Maybe like after completing all the master challenges or even the seal make the reward ornaments not a sparrow or ship, making the armor looks based of the raid environment or even off the bosses, not only would it give more meaning to completing these seals but even players who dont bother attempting master raids will give it a chance. The sad thing is if they were to do this they've already missed out on the big ones like last wish, garden and so on.

Thank you, I fully agree. Destiny 2 has some good armor sets, and you can try to make something resembling a D1 look...but overall, it shows generally how Destiny shifted from Sci-fi with Fantasy Elements to Space Fantasy. Not just armor wise, but with how guns look too, a lot of Destiny 2 weapons, especially seasonal stuff, is very out there and fantastical. I miss the D1 aesthetics.

Man this video was bittersweet. Seeing some of the best armor designs ever brought back the good memories. And then knowing I was going back to D2 made me slightly hate how my character looked. Like for real, the amount of weapons, armor sets and exotics that have been recycled into D2 why have they never put the Taken King banner sets back in? Would make the headache that is D2 Iron Banner actually worth it.

My favourite armor set from D1 is the titan Days of Iron ornament. The burning wolf helmet and oven chest piece was just so cool. Year 2 iron banner is the best hunter armor ever. Although I like year 3 chest piece bit more.
