Honestly bungie hit the jackpot with the graphics with halo 3, it’s much better then halo reach graphically or atlease an more appealing ascetic to it and it aged really well

Yes and no, for its time it looks good, and the environments still look good, but it also looks terrible at the same time. Playing ODST this week with the PC release and faces look soooo bad and really make me think 343 should go back and do a remaster of halo 3 after they finish the halo 4 port. Base halo 3 isn't quite as bad but faces still look quite doughy and the game would benefit massively from a full remaster like H2 got. Reach too tbh but it has aged much better than 3 and ODST Even more so the beginning of the epilogue cutscene, the playable area is all 3D but the rest of new mombasa is entirely 2D

I loved the Defiant Map pack in Halo Reach. The aesthetic they went for was various stages of human worlds and the covenant. One map was an abandoned industry location, then the training ground where you see them glassing the place, and then Condemned, the final stage where most of the planet is burned.

I thought I was the only one who did that, glad to know I wasn't the only one who would look out to the distance in Epitaph, seeing the beauty of the desert on top of that Forerunner spire. I agree, I hope to see more of a desert themed map in the future of Halo, along with snow themed maps like Avalanche and Snowbound.

Nothing surpasses the gorgeousness of Valhalla in Halo maps. The transtiion between snow and frosty plains surrounded by an almost prismatic stream flowing from the rocks to a ocean is pitch perfect. I almost felt a tranquil breeze right next to a fan blowing on me at my house at a low setting, further intensifying an almost lifelike visit to a Nordic forerunner outpost. I will go to my grave with that first visit in the back of my mind. Orbital is up there too, but Valhalla is perfect for its time.

Of the OG snow maps in the first game, Ice Fields is definitely the superior map; I would say Avalanche is a good successor to Sidewinder, but I'd love to see more of the PC-exclusive maps (like Ice Fields or District from Halo 2) get the same amount of love Timberland did. You can still play Eldewrito today to experience Icebox! Servers are still up and you can always host your own! You just gotta find the Eldewrito installer out there which isn’t too hard. There’s a hardcore community that still plays it

I'm hoping we get to come across some of installation 07's versions of some classic maps. Imagine wandering the forest until you come upon a massive trapezoidal building, like a pyramid with the top 2/3 sliced off and discarded. You enter through a small man door on one of the faces of the structure, your eyes adjust to the din, and you realize you are in Hang 'em High.... add in some lore about how the random blocks on the ground were placed to commemorate worlds lost to the flood or something similar... sounds like a game that could keep me busy for 10 years

I am so sad I'll never get to play on Mercy. I agree with it being one of the best looking maps and I love the feel of it. But by the time it released in H5, the game was basically dead here in Australia, so you couldn't find matches for any mode. And now that I'm on PC, I definitely can't play it. I know there's the Halo 5 Forge thing on the Microsoft Store, but I'm not playing that piece of crap and on that terrible store. I also still wouldn't be able to play, since I think that's only for Forge and Custom Games with friends. I don't think there's matchmaking on it. I would love if they brought back Mercy exactly how it is in H5 in Infinite somehow. I know that's probably not possible since they are running on two different engines with different lighting, textures, etc, but still... That and Guardian are two maps that I am sad that I'll never really get to enjoy/enjoy again. Love those maps to death.
