amen. as a martial artist, I started with karate which focuses a lot on movements to the front(sagittal plane) later, I started training tai chi, which has multidimensional movements. bagua zhang (my personal favorite) has an incredible array of multidimensional movement patterns, designed to put power through the structure in all of the dimensions. being strong and having ease of movement in all dimensions is a key to lifelong athleticism. good video, thx.

Hey Elliot, at the university where I an interning as a strength coach, we do these and call them "wheel lunges" Same patterns with a few differences. On the stepback portion of the lunge, we actually do a crossover. And on the reverse 45 lunge, we turn and open up our hips

Very very helpful especially for basketball players just like me... I think just my opinion is that if you do have bad knees, just try this out with body weight first and then incorporate it to your regular leg day routine... Also, using a knee support can somehow make you feel comfortable with your knee too...

Yo Elliott! I've had tendinopathy/chronic tendinitis in my left distal biceps femoris insertion for over a year now (as a result of a 22 km run that I hadn't trained for). I've seen physios, done a bunch of exercises (calf raises, isometric hamstring curl holds etc etc) which relieve symptoms, but upon even a little exertion or not doing the exercises for a few days, the pain in my tendon comes back. Ultrasound didn't reveal any inflammation. I have a feeling that this is because of muscle imbalances in my legs - my left leg is a stronger and larger than the right (so is the rest of my body - the left is weaker than the right). I used to lift heavy a fair bit a few years back, but haven't lifted heavy for at least a couple of years now. I've started doing your upper body corrective stretches, but I was wondering whether you have any suggestions for lower body corrective stretches or anything that might cure this chronic tendinitis. By the way, massive fan, been watching your videos for years, you've helped me through a lot!! Cheers, Mahakaran

Nsima Inyang "Movement that Matters" and "How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy." I think the latter one is superior, since it has a lot of information about health, nutrition and lifestyle besides exercises. HtEMBH is also constantly reprinted and some new information added. I have a reprtint from September 2013 and it is an eleventh reprint already

The 45 degre lundge seem pretty sketch, I'll try it tho.
@grizzlyadams91710 жыл бұрын
There's nothing sketch about the 45 degree lunge. If you feel as if you may injure yourself than its probably not the best idea to start with any weights or barbells, just do free-body lunges. The idea as explained in the video is to work every aspect of your muscles, not just thighs/quads.
@Cmonbro44410 жыл бұрын
Bryant Gauthier Yeah those 45 degree reps look like they could hurt! Especially if you're prone to injury, such as myself. I wonder if these multi-degree lunges can actually develop strength to help REDUCE chance to knee injury.
@bool010110 жыл бұрын
So today i tried it, and hated it. ... Conclusion, I'll add it to my workout.

Train smarter. I started doing different lunges like he’s showing here and I noticed how weak those muscles are and that I need to improve mobility in my hips. I’m gonna keep doing these in my routines and hopefully see improvement in my heavy lifts.

Much needed exercises, since I only have free weights for leg exercises. 1. Do you know any free weight exercises for hamstrings other than the medicine ball one you showed us before? 2. When I used to do machine leg squats I used to lose my first quick step for basketball. In fact any machine exercise for my legs used to destroy my quickness. Do you have any thoughts on that? Thanks.

I watched this last night at work. There isn't a barbell there so I thought that I would just perform the pattern the dance so to speak. There wasn't much room to move so I wasn't even taking very big steps. I did a couple of rounds empty handed and noticed later that I tweaked something. I looked it up on a gross anatomy chart at wiki and identified it was an ass muscle that I pulled. I managed to sleep it off and work out today but it came back a little. That's probably what happens when you get this memo at 56 years old. I'm going to continue to do this empty handed for awhile and then work up to little dumbbells
