In my country everyone considers a 300cc bike as a superbike (even if they're not, people generally don't know much about bikes here... Even if someone sees a cbr1000rr they'll say.. "oh look, a hayabusa OMG"... It's because hayabusa had a great influence within people back then... So whenever people see a superbike, they tag it as a hayabusa... And yes seeing a 300cc bike is also kind of rare in my country

The Honda Shadow is a great option for short riders, it is a cruiser so it has forward controls, but it's comfortable, SUPER reliable and doesn't require a whole lot of maintenance besides regular oil changes and keeping the chain lubed, it's low to the ground and even short riders can flat foot it. Alternatively the Triumph Street Cup or Street Twin is def. short people friendly and is a very upright sitting position, with mid controls.

I’m 5’1 and always wanted a sports bike, I sat on a Kawasaki Z400 but I was on tip toes, not safe for a beginner. I ended up getting a Honda Rebel 300, it has a 27.2’ seat height and I fit it like a glove, most importantly, I feel safe bc I can flat foot it & handle it. I’m 107 lbs, bike weighs 364 lbs. I’ve had it over a month practicing in parking lots & I’ve never come close to dropping it. It’s a beautiful sexy bike, it sounds awesome, too. Check out your local dealership to go sit on one. I was nervous to drop it so I put on a crash guard, also called an engine, it reduced my fear of dropping the bike. Good luck guys and chase your dreams.

My Triumph Bonneville is nice and low - great for cities and highways too. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner bike and it is kind of heavy when pushed, but in terms of touching the ground with your feet for riders who are not gigantic, them it's a great option and a lovely ride.

I wouldn't personally start on a sportbike in that case, I am 5'4 and the Ninja is fine for me. The Honda rebel 300 would be a great option, and anything along the lines of a cafe racer. Then when you get the hang of it you could probably also ride a sportbike with a higher seat height and be more comfortable on it. Great selection of Small CC bikes for short riders. I'm a short rider myself and first started on an 86 Honda Rebel 250. I have an inseam of 28 inches and have always been relegated to cruisers like an 93 HD Sportster and a Honda Shadow. But I've recently test riddin the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Bolt along with the SV650 and Honda Rebel 500. They all are great bikes for short riders and some of us want a bigger CC bike so I jumped on the HD Street Rod 750 and altough it was a little taller, it was still manageable plus you can always adjust the suspension to lower it just like Doddle did her Street Triple. But I digress, thank for sharing and keep up the great work. You have a new sub, because of Doodle. Love the review.
@surferdude642
@surferdude642 3 жыл бұрын
You are the first one stated your inseam. Good, that is more accurate than overall height. I am also a 28" inseam. Since you're not a beginner you have more choices than you realize. And they are not cruisers, and with stock seat height and suspension height. Examples are Triumph Street Triple, Yamaha MT 07 and MT 09, Kawasaki Z900. Try some out. You won't be flat footed but you don't need that. It is not an advantage. Hope this helps.

at 4"8 I would start on a cafe racer or something low to the ground like the Honda Rebel 300. Once you learn to safely ride on that (I'm saying give it a year if not even longer) you can try something higher up like a sportbike. Although at 16...(up to age 21 probably) be prepared to pay a decent amount for insurance especially if you get a sportbike. As for your parents, well mine didnt want me to ride either but I went for it secretly anyway (but I was 20) :P

I think you would be better off getting a dual-sport motorcycle in that case. Or just a plain ole' dirt-bike, or even a supermoto if you plan on being on more "tame" off-road terrain. Here's a good list someone put together with seat heights specified. Just measure your inseam and see if any on this list would be good texasdirtbike.com/dirt-bikes-with-low-seat-height/

What about cruisers ,agreed if you don't have much riding experience start with smaller engine on your motorcycle,any cruiser should put your feet flat the ground which you need for correct stopping.Cruiser go very fast pretty quick,don't think only sport bikers can do that.

I've seen a few videos mentioning the Kawasaki ninja bikes but im just wondering if you should get a sport bike as your first motorcycle? im still in high school and all the year 11's and 12's use dirt bikes. (granted they are all guys and i live in a mostly rural area so that might be why)

I am a 5'3" 130 lb guy. My inseem is around 29-30 inches. I just went and looked at the R3 and ninja 400. The R3 was a bit big for me and the ninja is even a bit larger. I mean I could probably do it, but it didn't feel comfortable sitting on it in the show room. For long open road rides sure probably not an issue once I am on it and moving. However for stop and go traffic I don't think it would be very fun. Where I live in rural ish Michigan once you get into a city, even a small one sometimes you spend more time sitting at lights than you do actually moving. And lord forbid you try to go to detriot or get stuck in stop and go highway traffic.

My inseam is 30" and I rode the Ninja 300 just fine - both feet could touch although not flat footed but ball of the foot and I could push the bike manually with feet down just fine if needed. The 400 is probably a tad bigger. The CB300R is supposed to be a little shorter. As someone else posted, many bikes have optional seats and shock lowering links. The CB300R has an optional seat for like $150 that lowers the height 1". Otherwise, go for a cruiser like the Vstar 250 etc. and you'll flat foot just fine. Girl in my MSF course was maybe 4'11" and rode both a Rebel 300 and Eliminator with ease, and with the lower center of gravity on the Eliminator she killed the test for u-turn.

If you're a girl around 5'4 you'll be fine with most Sportbikes aswell as supersport bikes. Like most Ducatis panigale, Suzuki 600, 750 and 1000, BMW s1000rr aswell as any Honda CBRs are very do_able at that hight. So yea

I'd also like to add that I don't believe a persons stature should be an obstacle to getting any bike they want If the person has enough confidence and ability to maneuver any bike, than they can definitely do it if they believe they can Obstacles can be overcome, no matter how gigantic they may seem Think about it people and don't give up on what you really want to do That is, if it's something positive and good for everyone involved That's the idealist in me, but I do believe that positive vibes bring out positive outcomes Goodbye everyone and have a good one
