5:34 Reminds me of a similar truck dad had parked in our farmyard for a few weeks about 1952. No idea where it came from. Its life was changed to a farm trailer for hauling hay and straw bales near Macedon Center N.Y. Great old photos, thank you. It's obvious a lot of work went into this presentation.

Sad to see the nuber of trucking companies that no longer exsist and the number of truck manufacturers that are gone as well.

A new channel called Cookin up Trucking appears to be good. They are a mature elder team with USA pulling dry van. PLEASE give them a view and start

I wonder what brand of COE that was with the "transfer lane" livery. I think Delchers is the same brand of COE. I dont know why these vintage vids make me feel sentimental for old times. Maybe because it was a time of normalcy.

My daddy was a deputy sheriff and also ran a fuel stop on Rt 100 coming into Pearisburg VA in south West Virginia in the Appalachian mountains half a mile from the trail. My daddy had put me up in the cab at 2years old and at 15 I was driving a R77 Euclid haul truck which turned into over 50 years trucking driving all 48 in everything but a parking lot, never hauled cars. No I'm 71 shifting gears with 2 cains.

Can you just see some one wanting the Indian removed from their logo nowadays ! Wow so many of those old companies now gone. Yellow just bit the dust after almost 100 years !

What made it the golden age was that freight rates were set by the us gov so everyone made a decent living even the drivers. You can thank the GOP who had Reagan sign off on a dereg bill and all the carriers had to fight tooth & nail to beat each other out of loads. The first place they cut costs was driver pay and it has been that way ever since. REMEMBER, its nothing personal, its busine$$. !

That was actually Jimmy Carter who deregulated trucking. Reagan deregulated the air traffic control industry.

Those were the days BUT its all coming to an end. Ca, Or, Wa & Ny have all set 2040 as the date when all heavy equipment must be powered with clean energy. Meaning Hydrogen or Electric. I think Electric is going to win as it almost has right now. ALSO, all the big carriers are currently investing $M maybe $B into self driving tech companies. Once they perfect the tech, drivers will no longer be needed. The roads will be filled with robotrucks rolling 24/7 stopping only to fuel & service. Time for drivers to find a new career. Tesla is looking for people to train as Tesla simi techs. !
