Nice fishing! I was in Seward the week before you. Four of us brought home 97 pounds of halibut and 32 pounds of king salmon. All caught off a boat though, so not cheap. We only had a chance to fish off shore for a couple of hours. My one son snagged a sockeye but we lost him on the rocks. My other son snagged a sea lion and of course he broke off, LOL. Can't wait to get back. Good job!

The only things non residents can't do are dip net (probably can't use a fish wheel by extension), and anything to do with "subsistence" harvesting. of game. As mentioned, non resident fishing licenses cost more. The last number i know is $150'ish unless you're there less than 2 weeks. the King stamp is another $100 on top of that if you want to keep a king.. With that $250, you can do everything. Oh, and non-residents can't do anything related to harvesting by "proxy" meaning you can't bring 12 kids and cousins and catch their combined fish limits yourself.
@littlegoobie
@littlegoobie 3 жыл бұрын
lucky you, i just found out the seasonal non-resident fishing license is actually cheaper this year, maybe they want to bring in more tourists. It's $100.

Seward is awesome. Caught 140lb. Halibut there. Never snagged a red there tho. Btw for noobs, reds are only caught by snagging or netting. Edit for: was surprised that the triple hook is being used. That's typically not a, "legal" set up. What do I know tho. Never redded in Seward.

Naw. Red's don't bite. Even in the rivers you gotta snag'em. Typically not on a treble hook. Also in the mouth. Not sure the regs in open water tho? Pretty sure Nutty looked it up tho?
@littlegoobie
@littlegoobie 3 жыл бұрын
What makes it legal at this spot isn't that it's "open" water, it's because it's salt water. This is on the far side of Resurrection bay, and it's salt. As far as rivers go, they will be fresh water which means you cannot use snagging gear. In rivers, you must release all fish hooked anywhere except inside the mouth. ..and believe me, ADFG officers and state Troopers hide in the bushes and watch people with binoculars .
