Hi everyone! Was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday, so I didn't get a video out, but I'm back today! :) I'm curious if anyone else knew you could do this and I'm just behind - thanks!

I've been using SketchUp since v3 (so... 15 years or so?) and this was one of the features that had made me fall in love with the program back when I first started using it. The @Last (the original developers) user forums were very active and helpful in teaching this kind of small tips. Love your videos. Hope you're well now.

Great. I'm planing a loft bed at home and I needed to brush up on arrays. I am a decades long Adobe Ilustrator user so when ever I find comparable functions it's a eureka moment. I love how you can work like AI in top-view and Parallel Projection and later start thinking 3D.

Hi Justin, Great tips with every video. I have some experience with SketchUp, tried a few tricks, however it is easier to learn from the best, thank you. I have a question for you. I have a problem where I try to create a linear array, copying an object at a particular spacing, however I need to make every subsequent copy larger or smaller by a certain factor relative to the original. The factor is applied just to one of the dimensions, typically the height. Ideally I would like the bottom of the elements to follow one curve in elevation, while the top of the elements to follow another curve. Not sure if something like this is feasible, it would greatly speed up the process. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Great video, I'm using sketchup pro 2021 and I'm not able to get the multi function to work. I can make single copies of components or groups but not multiple. When I try to type *5 it says invalid entry. If I keep CTRL key pressed it won't allow me to type anything. What Key sequence do you use to make this work. I discovered what I was doing wrong. select Move tool(M) click on component and release, hit Ctrl key and release, move a short distance with the mouse in the direction you want to make the copies then type in the distance and hit enter, then without touching anything else type *5 and hit enter.

Hi, Thank you for the great tips actually, those tips didn't work in SketchUp 2020 especially when modifying the distance and/or the number of copies after I made my copy, in SketchUp 2020 it makes extra copies, and if I changed the number of copies retaining the same exact distance it makes instant copies over the previous action. I tried everything knew .. it seems it's a bug in sketchup.

2020 is acting weird on this - for some reason it wasn't working for me with groups. It works with ungrouped geometry and components, but not with groups for some reason
@francescodilecce71893 жыл бұрын
It's a pity that you can't go back to the array you created and then making further changes... Nothing works. Is still the same situation with the last version of the program or there is a specific plugin to do that?

why cant you make the shetchup window bigger so people can read what you are doing in the measurement box ?
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
Well the SketchUp window doesn't get bigger - it's maximized on my screen when I record. That said, for tutorials like this in the future that are heavy on measurement box, I can probably have that zoomed in the corner of the screen. However, this is why I narrate tutorials in addition to demonstrating, so I can describe what I'm doing in case it's hard to follow...
