I use spray can clear blending solvent on those blends. Works great less polishing. and helps it bond to the old finishes better.
@Mikefngarage3 жыл бұрын
If you try it use spray some on the dry areas and use air from the spray gun to dry them do it a few times with air right after. almost no polishing necessary.

I noticed the color difference on the back door even before you said anything about it. Yea Some of those Single stage or gloss coat as you say do dry a bit darker. yea I cold see it was a bit lighter on your coat. But I am sure it dried perfectly. Yea sometimes those color gloss blends can show some color difference. Blending clear is the best way. you got that right.

It terms of GoPro settings. Lock white balance and lock exposure (setting that to the brightest part of the scene.) That will keep colour and tone as consistent as possible. (White balance to whatever temp your lamps are. Use a grey card to check.)

I do the same with a red audi tt I get in regular for stone chips etc! Started getting pimpling in the waterbase as it was so transparent and had to put lots of coats on probably not drying all the way through the layers? So perfected tinting 2k solid for a perfect colour match and then one coat of clear👍
@TonysRefinishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes mate that an issue with transparency in some colours when using water we sometimes tend to want to load it up to get coverage so it doesn’t dry as well as we think on cars like that il give them a short bake for ten minutes to make sure the base is dry properly before clearing to be safe

Happy New Year Sir, I’ve been checking out your videos on the 2k gloss, I use those when I spray boats. I’ve noticed that you don’t blow a lot of overspray, it seems to be contained pretty well. I’ve tried to figure your settings, and it looks to be about 2 1/2-3 turns out, what’s your pressure? When I’m spraying I may have another vessel 10 feet or so away(3 m), so I have my pressure down to 15psi, looks a bit too chunky. I’m getting better, learning everyday, just searching for some information that I can adapt into my work to help out. Again Happy New Year, hope all is well, thank you for your time, cheers

@JohnWD40TC023 жыл бұрын
Nice job Tony, I wondered how you went about blending direct gloss as I've heard (never done it myself) it can be difficult. The van looked a different colour outside which again is down to the white balance on the gopro, I keep mine set at 3200k for both indoor and outside but I do use different ISO and shutter speeds for both as my booth has black walls which makes it even harder. I just have a different setup for indoor and outdoor then get the settings right for both the it's just a case of switching between them. Anyway mate the van looked great outside and you wouldn't know it had been blended, very nice glossy finish mate, of course it would have been better if you used the DV1 but there is no helping some people 😲🙄😂😉

you could do it with just gloss mate but as i mentioned in the video if you didnt have a great match the edge would show alot when polished so yes as you say you could just blend the outer edge of the colour in with some clear on the last coat to eliminate any issues in the final stage polishing the edges in

My question is, will I get much difference in colour match if I were to spray panels individually?
