Good video Walks. That is a good lens for those not bought into a macro system already, you I suspect are already locked in to the Sony system (m4/3) in my case although I use an adaptor as I have all the expensive older Zuiko Digital glass. Some good tips in there though so keep them coming. Regards Peter.

Interesting video Scott, goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune to get started in macro photography. I think I'll stick with my 105 mm Nikon lens though. Extension tubes are a good option too.

Hi. The Samyang will undoubtedly be better quality, although I've never used that lens. But photos from the two lenses will look quite different. I assume it's for an APS-C camera. If so, the 60mm is equivalent to a 90mm on full frame and gives you about 25° view. The 100mm is equivalent to 150mm on full frame and will give you about a 14° view. So you get much less of the background in the image with the 100mm.

I used this lens and Sony A6000, but I have a problem about viewfinder. I feel that not clear when looking through viewfinder and difficult to use. Can I adjust something in camera menu? What is your suggestion?

Hi. There is a tiny dial just to the right of the viewfinder. It's called a diopter - and it adjusts the viewfinder to suit your eyes. Try adjusting this to see if it helps.

Hi. As along as you're comfortable with manual focus it should be fine. I don't take a lot of portraits, I'm a do nature photography, but I have tried this lens with a few people shots and it was perfectly sharp. Thanks for watching.

You are forgetting video shooters. I would use the barrel as a small probe lens. With this, you can use a slider and get very closeup cool probe lens videos.

Hi Mike. Sorry for the delay in replying. The lens barrel extension makes no difference to the minimum focusing distance, so you'll get just as close up with or without it. There is currently only one probe lens on the market, the Laowa 24mm F/14. I hope that helps.

A reversing ring on a lens you already own be it a prime or short zoom could be a beter quality macro lens than this one. And it will cost only pennies.

I agree, but it depends what lens you're using. If it's not a manual lens and so doesn't have an aperture ring, it means you have to keep remounting it the right way to change aperture.

@@WalksOnTheWildSide True, I was referring to the old Nikon lenses as I still use the Nikon system. In any case any lens will become a manual one when reversed with a simple T mount adapter to couple to the camera body.

It's not the best macro lens at all. Truth be told, it's weak, the worst I've ever seen. Even after stopping down the aperture, the edges of the frame are soft. Old cheap macro lenses are five times better.
