Thanks for showing the Zodiac. I had forgotten how beautiful it looked when it was new. Mine is still in very nice condition and I bought it new on May 1st, 1969. It came from the ships store on the USS Wright CC-2. I have many nice things now, but the old Zodiac is still my most prized possession.

I was at a bus station the other day and I saw a man wearing a Chronostop just like the one in the first picture of the segment. I complimented him on his watch and he told me that it was his father's. His father was a diplomat of the Iranian government before the revolution and he recieved it as a gift in New York from an American diplomat. After the revolution the man's father took his family to the west and the Chronostop was one of the few possesions that his father was able to take with him. This led to an interesting conversation about life in Iran pre-revolution which is a topic I've been curious about. I got to try on the watch and it was wonderful on the wrist. You never know where your watch obsession takes you!

I really enjoy these videos. Great choices...every single one. The Zodiac is one I’ve almost bought a few times. For the Chronostop, I have the earlier version but the Driver model; it’s still very accessible from a $$ standpoint, is 35+mm, and looks great on the original Milanese bracelet or other straps. Hugely collectible.

Fantastic video as usual. Loving the Longines (a brand I have no particular affinity for for the reasons you describe afterwards), Zodiac and Omega!

I really enjoyed this video, Armand. Your videos are very informative for a new watch enthusiast, like me. The Longines Transocean somehow gets my vote here: it just seemed so classically attractive. But I wouldn't disparage any of the watches you reviewed here!

Excellent!! Hamilton and Zodiac are very rare in Australia. Twenty years ago there was a watch dealer in Darling Harbour Sydney that had a few Zodiac models for a while. Absolutely right about Longines. In terms of value some new models offer column wheel movement at a reasonable price. Thanks.

Great video as ever Armand! Have you had much experience with Smiths watches? They have some interesting vintage military and dress and diver pieces and are great value on the second-hand market.

Hey, pls have a look at YES Equilibrium Watches. They are really unique.
@jimsy55306 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but the info on the Zodiac is incorrect: only one of the Aerospace GMT iterations came with the bakelite bezel, and in colours other than black and blue or red and black. Dials were also available in white. Indices varied between two types, depending on whether your bakelite model is aa 934 or 934B.

Love your content! Always very informative. Consider making your intro music more upbeat. Your current intro is very somber. IMHO!! Thanks

Not for me but very interesting just the same. I'm in my fifties but much prefer modern watches mainly as I inherited a 35mm Omega and a 30mm Rolex (lucky me you could say) but in reality just too small so unwearable. It's an area of watch collecting which holds little appeal and I would be more inclined to support SOME micro brands. Educational as always though Armand, many thanks

Amand. I cannot believe the prices for these vintage watches in all your fantastic commentaries. I know you adore them. BUT there are no parts for these watches and the cases if too polished are irreplaceable, so why would anyone pay more than 1500 pounds for any of them, given that the modern luxury watch starts at that price and is simply better engineered product with real backup? I could NEVER risk spending 1500 pounds on a 1960s watch without massive belief in the originality and the chances of using the watch in normal life?! All the pictures are with non-original straps, because that has to be because they will have perished, but doesn't that demonstrate these are fun to look at, but can't be used. The modern leather straps are tons better than anything from the 1960s or 1970s.
