Hey guys, first off great job on the video! Second, I've noticed you guys do a lot of unboxings/reviews and was curious what online site you guys use to buy them from? I'm new to the watch game and was hoping you might be able to shed some light on this topic. Thanks in advance!

Fantastic editing all around and look forward to more similar content. This is the 1st vlog of this kind where I've seen anyone go vintage hunting. Would love to see more episodes like this!!! The Bridle on the mainspring was an amazing was an amazing invention with the notches on the barrel. Making the springs pretty much unbreakable. The torque of the winding gear makes the spring slip when attempting to overwind the spring. I have a schild Hebdow pocket watch from 1920. Huge mainspring covers the unit with the bridle type spring 8 day power reserve. Company formerly known as Schild cie Hebdomas ( Graizly freres) 8 day watch with amazingly beautiful engravings on the mainspring barrel

Never seen flee markets or second hand shops selling selling old or new watches here in London UK, been living here for almost 40 years, only currently jewellery shops, possible pawn and specialist markets, noticed that the second hands on both your watches weren’t working in the introduction…

Patrick, Well done. This was your first outing on this series so there was no doubt a bit of improvisation involved. My advice to you which you are free to accept or reject is as follows: go with your strengths which are devoted to getting people to tell in a focused way about themselves and their watches. When you look at this video and compare it to your past work, I think that you will find the question text is not up for view as long as you traditionally have kept it up and the answers to the question were so short that you were very rapidly segueing to the next question. As a viewer, such rapid transitions are distracting. It takes a moment for a viewer to digest the text of a question and to become mentally prepared and open to the shift in the conversation. It was actually fortunate that the vendor did not want to be seen on screen because it caused the watches to be the center of focus. You should consider how to highlight specific watches visually. As a set up, seeing a mass of watches sets the stage for the viewer but I wanted to see more of the individual watches. Under normalized circumstances featuring somebody who is not concerned about their anonymity, highlighting the vendor, their location, their website, their specialties and the price of specific watches so a viewer can follow up and even initiate a potential purchase are all things that are desirable. There is probably a balance as to how many watches can effectively be featured or discussed. The best part of the watch discussion was probably about Doxa but there was little follow up on your part. A “Tell us about Doxa” or “Have you ever worked on a Doxa” and “What have you found when you worked on a Doxa” all would have been interesting. You were a little bit cute today as opposed to being journalistic. Your having lunch, the travails of New York traffic detours or the state of disorder of your companions apartment are not why a reasonable hypothetical viewer would watch your videos. Good models can be found in old KZbin available episodes of Edward R. Murrow’s interviews during the heyday of television and or the interview work of Studs Terkel on the website of either KZbin or WFMT (the educational radio station) in Chicago.This video came off a little bit as if you were trying to shoot your own version of a Seinfeld episode instead of the very fine cinema verity type of work that represents your best work. I love your work but I begged off listening to your review videos because I didn’t think that your personal views about a microbrand type watch were of any significance. Your significance is in trying to document people connected with horology and now the watches in which some of these people choose to deal and trade. I am not crabbing but I am trying to suggest to you that your highest and best contribution to horology is not as another KZbin horological talking head. Ask yourself what would Robert Flaherty and Sergei Eisenstein do if they were charged with doing a show along the intended lines of this show. You don’t have to be totally impersonal but being too overly personal detracts from what you are trying to achieve.

zed end thats actually fair market value for GF bumper LeCoultres. not "too good to be true"
@patrickma07
@patrickma07 7 жыл бұрын
zed end check out watchrecon.com for forum sales posts. you often see sub $1k vintage LeCoultres. You can also often find slightly more questionable ones on eBay for the same range. In the vintage market, gold filled/plated dress watches are the "least desirable" and thus command the lowest prices compared to their stainless steel sports counterparts.

Now I have to tell you something my friend. I am bot being biased here about the person you are interviewing at that shop/vintage place but i can tell you that i have spotted very suspicious items there at the display for sale which gave me a clue to what the Man sales there. I do not want to go to detail there but i have noticed on certain brass decoration the green”ish” patina you get after certain time especially with moist contact that did not mach the base “wear and tear”. Now there are so many places that sale the vintage goods and there is so many replicas there=some amateur replicas to the very very high quality replicas. The most important to the Vintage business goods, the long term Full Time vintage business is the person selling the goods. You can not sustain long period of time if you do not understand the principals of the goods you are selling. If you do not understand the difference between the “genuine” & “replica/original state of the good” , you are not going to survive there as you are going be cheated unconsciously the same as you are going to cheat unconsciously. The opposite of the “unaware/amateur” seller is person understanding the principals of the business and obstacles including it. This person has got genuine knowledge about the goods (genuine or non genuine) selling to you. I am not sure which one is more dangerous to buy from as both of them are carrying risk to purchase. The difference there is that one of them has got enough knowledge of the item being sold to you. THE PERSON you interviewed there at the market is described by you as the knowledgeable one , which tells me to TELL YOU TO BE AWARE OF HIM as i have spotted there just by the examining your video sequences in detail to certain items, telling me the nature about this person. He does have non genuine items at his display , which leads you to ask yourself= is he just a gamble ,new in business buying & selling in a good will or is he the knowledgeable one knowing the shady background of his items. You answered it for me, he knows the value of his goods, stay aware, do not buy anything before checking it on internet. I am reasonably sure, there is many watches on display there, not matching the manufacturer catalogue description. AND HE KNOWS ABOUT IT. good luck and please, for those of you reading this, having desire to attack my comment,save your time, I can imagine it all, so if you disagree , just say: YOU IDIOT,!
