I own 2 PB 1000 Pros and I gotta say that the SVS app is a blessing, as I don't have access to any other DSP and I'm limited on subwoofer placement. There was a particularly nasty +10 db peak at 50 hz in my room that made music almost unlistenable, which was alleviated by the in-app eq. Tbf home theater guys probably have other means of correcting peaks, so they don't really need the built-in eq, but for us 2 channel music lovers this is remarkably useful and I truly hope it becomes a staple for other manufacturers as well: imagine being able to fine tune that RSL beast!

that's a nasty peak for sure! I don't see other companies making this mainstream but the good news is similar features can easily be added by way of something like a MiniDSP

I originally wanted the RSL 12 but had just enough money for the Rythmik LV12M. Now,.. I'm no pro. Living room movies. Right now I'm only running a Denon AVR with two Kef Q350's and now the Rythmik. I haven't ran Audessey yet and I have a UMIK-1 coming in the mail so I can use REW. Out of the box with subwoofer level on AVR set to 0db amd volume on the back of the sub about 5 clicks above 12 o'clock I'm shaking the windows with my AVR turned up to -15db and I'm in a 2k square foot house with a open floor plan. It gets low but it's soooo smooth. The bass is rich and smooth. I am thoroughly impressed so far and I haven't ran room correction or taken any measuments yet. EDIT: After some testing I've found that the amp on the Rythmik is clipping and in order for it to not clip I have to turn the sub down enough to where I am not getting nearly the output I feel I require in the room. Not sure if it's placement, the room or both. I will need to teat further with REW but as of now the Rythmik simply does not have enough output.

The LVM12 is an excellent sub but it is still on the smaller side so if you're looking to recreate reference level theater a single compact sub will rarely get the job done unless its something absolutely massive. Listening habits and the room will be a big factor. I know guys with a single 18" that weren't completely satisfied and ended up going duals so maybe duals is your solution :)

I would really really like to know how the new Klipsch RP-1200SW stacks up against these. What little I've seen looks very promising. They straight-up say they've beaten the whole issue with amps not lasting, and the design looks great. I can't even get the RSL being not-in-the-US. I'll probably roll the dice on the Klipsch. Here, it costs similar money as a PB 2000 and should almost certainly surpass it on performance (albeit no app or dsp). Unfortunately also very large, or rather long. I didn't want that. But... I do want bass, and extension down to 16 hz... I can always add $225 for a MiniDSP 2x4 HD and solve the tuning issue.

I would really like to see the RSL speedwoofer 12S compared to something in the $1200 category like the GoldenEar Forcefield 40. The Speedwoofer 12S might come out on top, but if the Forcefield 40 even comes close with a much smaller cabinet, it might be a good option for people with limited space or design constraints.
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
that would not compare even a little. Golden ear subs are for theater only and this YT page is for 2ch music so I would never recommend golden ear anyway. If you want a smaller sub I've reviewed many that are much smaller as well as made videos discussing how smaller subs compare to larger subs. The short answer is many modern smaller subs like the SVS Micor or KEF KC62 are amazing but cannot compete with something 4-6x their physical size. A Honda Civic has a respectable amount of performance for its category but it doesn't hold a candle to a Hellcat.
@Smellslikegelfling Жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda What makes you say the GoldenEar subs are for HT only and not 2 channel? The reviews say they have good output from 30hz and above. They're also sealed, so they should have a good transient response, no?
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
@@Smellslikegelfling they have passive radiators which generally don't have the best transients unless we're talking about REL which is another story, REL makes amazing passive radiator subs, everyone elses just sound like small vented subs. Lastly and mainly what clearly makes them for HT only is the entire lack of any phase or polarity adjustment which makes it impossible to setup in a purist 2ch system. You can only set phase in home theater setup using a processor that has onboard bass management, a feature stereo amps simply don't have. The only reason a subwoofer company would choose to leave out phase or polarity adjustment is because they assume you will be using it with an AVR in a theater environment that has said adjustments.

First time to check out the channel, and even though I was familiar with all 3 subwoofers mentioned, I enjoyed your take on them. Also enjoyed your narrative. As a musician I certainly want and enjoy quality sound, but "audiophiles" kinda get on my nerves. 1) Really when there are people in need others will drop $20, or $50K for a pair of speakers and their conscious doesn't bother them (we're not talking about a car now, just speakers)? 2) Then after dropping $50K the choice of music is some light jazz with a piano, drums, upright bass, and harmonica - recorded with 2 microphones? Seriously, that is NOT challenging the speakers and would sound fine on a Monoprice system. 3) Audiophiles think stereo systems and speakers are "musical instruments" thus justifying the cost. Music is beyond numbers and Thiele ratings, it's magical like nothing else, and no you don't need to have a "ridiculous" stereo system to enjoy the music, just a good one. Thought you might agree Peace. (if you want a really special set of speakers, build a pair. Everything else is pretty much out of reach.)

I believe you are thinking of the disocntinued model, I think it was called the LV12R, it was bigger and a little more expensive and facing a price increase. Rythmik replaced it with the LV12M to bring a more affordable option for the budget guys who wanted a smaller sub and to save some cash :)
@danemoreno88 Жыл бұрын
@@NemoPropaganda no it was that one because I was wanting to get it before the rsl came out actually I was looking at this one and the fvx12 which I was set on getting until the 12s came around . Either way it’s a great value

So two rythmik lv12ms or one rsl 12s

If you can afford a pair of LV12M you can afford a pair of 12s also so what’s the question you’re asking here? Do you have a space contraint? Are you worried about output? What kind of system is this for? This is such an open endef and vague question.

This is what you need. Snap trap (use gloves so no human smell), don't put on the floor of attic, place vertically along a "wall" or post with snap facing down, a few inches off the ground. Fill hole with Asian fish spice. It's irresistible. Bam, dead rat.

For a little more money i stacked two SVS SB1000 Pros and will annihilate any of these.
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
That's a cool setup too and sometimes getting dual cheaper subs is better than 1 giant more expensive one, especially if you have some room issues or need more even bass but your statement is factually incorrect. Dual sealed subs generally have similar output to a single vented sub with the same sized driver and SVS's own data shows that. A single PB1000 pro can play 7.2dB louder than a single SB1000 pro and duals will play 6dB louder so the dual SB1000 pro is about equal to a single PB1000 pro. I'm not taking a jab here, just clarifying how vented subwoofers work. SVS themselves are very transperant about this.

@@NemoPropaganda I understand the math but what I feel and hear after stacking these two is very noticeable
@NemoPropaganda Жыл бұрын
@@ricksmith7659 right, but you havn't heard any of these subs in the same room in the same locaiton have you? If your stacked subs outperform the same two subs in different locations it just means you had some cancellation issues or didn't have the phase setup right.
